Love these! We have this style in both the small and large sizes, and are using them in the main bath and two bedrooms, on doors (unpainted pine), for our robes. Soon will use in one stairwell & an entryway on painted wood and plaster walls, for hats and scarves, and light jackets.
Much nicer than plastic hooks, and much better than the suction cup metal hooks.
We're renting a townhouse overseas, and cannot pound any new holes into the woodwork or add new brackets or shelving to the plaster walls. These have really been wonderful for us.
I have not used these on wooden kitchen cabinet doors or drawers, on laminate, on ceramic or marble tile. Always have used them on wood in the past back home, or on lathe and plaster or drywall walls, with no problems. Removing them in my experience, really does leave no damage, and they really will hold the weight they're rated for if the kids don't hang on them or swing from them.
If you're looking for hooks that need waterproof adhesive strips, they do have those in the 3M line. Oxo also has good ones specifically for the bath and kitchen, for high heat and high moisture environments.
