Customer Review: Junk... Avoid This product and company
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this product for the FM radio. The reception was HORRIBLE. I have a $3.00 radio that will tune a local station crystal clear, yet this thing gets static on the same station every time I turn my head and if I walk 10 feet across my yard, it will pick up two other stations on the same frequency. I have tried this on multiple stations, all with the same result, yet these same stations seem to work perfect on my $3.00 radio.

To be fair, before leaving this negative review, I actually returned the product for repair to give the maker a chance to repair or replace the unit. They sent the same product back to me with a letter stating that it passed all their tests without problems. Of course it still does not work properly. I spoke to them by phone and they told me if I was not happy I could return the product to Amazon.com.

It is sad that they can't seem to put a $3.00 radio in a $50 product. I mean FM radio is OLD technology, not really hard to buy FM radio components that work. It is even sadder that they wanted their distributor/retailer to eat the loss instead of them taking the opportunity to repair the item or send me another model that worked. I asked for both options and was denied and told that the product passed their tests and worked as designed. That tells me that both their design and testing is also JUNK.

So, I am going to junk this item and eat the $50 myself and get me a $5 set of Chinese ear protectors from Harbor Freight and wear them over the headphones from my $3.00 Chinese radio. I am also going to post this review at every site that sells that product or other products made by this company.

I don't like leaving negative feedback, but, as I said, I gave them every chance to rectify the situation and even told them I was going to leave the negative feedback if they did not. They basically told me to go ahead. So, I did. I am also going to try to record an audio clip of the reception and also post a copy of their letter saying the product "passed all of their tests"

Customer Review: I started a trend on Davis Monthan and the AMARG (boneyard) with this head set.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this headset for hearing protection from F16, F4 and other flight line noise and to have music and talk radio. I was laughed at and ridiculed at first for having this headset...LOL...[Don't worry I never let negative opinions bother me...and I have always lived my life the way I want to live it.]
NOW...as it turns out, I started a trend on the Air Force Base where I work with this head set.
Some people seem to think that AM and FM radio headset is ancient history technology like the 8 track tape player. They thought I was either cheap or old fashioned or couldn't afford an IPOD, or some kind of MP3 player. I explained to them that while I do own a ZUNE, a pair of MP3 sun glasses, and Android phone with MP3 and video capabilities, they aren't worth a darn out on a flight line full of noise. Plus trying to work with a cord hanging from headphones and attached to my expensive toys isn't practical. So the solution was to buy this inexpensive am fm headset/hearing protection. What stopped the ridiculing was the fact that I had my ZUNE and my Android phone transmitting to my headset radio vis an inexpensive FM transmitter.
Their jaws dropped...I smiled...and continued on my way without giving their comments much thought.
Now I'm seeing a couple of people walking around with them. I wonder how many more people are going to run out and get a pair.

As far as sound quality is concerned I not much on trying to get hi-fidelity out of them. I accept the technology for what it is...inexpensive yet practical. The FM transmitter does what it is suppose to do, however I should buy one that transmit more than 5 to 10 feet.

Customer Review: Worktunes lives up to my expectations..
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a radio junkie. I have always enjoyed radio whether in my home, driving in my car or at the office. When I saw these Peltor Worktunes online I thought to myself that they would be great while working in the yard or excersizing, walking, etc. I felt that they would even give me a little more motivation to do those mundane chores because this way I can hear my favorite talk shows or listen to music of my choosing while performing them.

Well I was right. Even sitting on the lawn tractor and mowing 2.5 acres of lawn, I listened to all my favorite radio stations with no problem hearing them. The noise reduction from the enviroment is tremendous and the 17 hp gasoline engine two feet in front of me was a low muffle. I live 10 miles outside of the city in a rural area and the radio stations I like to listen to broadcast anywhere from 20 miles (local AM oldies) to 200 miles away (FM rock powerhouse) and of course at night I get the long range AM stations from hundreds of miles out. The reception is what I expected. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned that they wouldn't pull in the stations I wanted to hear. This isn't a GE table radio with 10 tubes from the 1950s, it's a portable headset, yet I can still pull in my favorite stations. The digital display leaves no doubt as to the frequency the radio is tuned. Setting my five favorite FM and AM stations was easy enough and fairly intuitive. It might be tricky for some but it's certainly way easier than programming a vintage 1980's VCR.

I'm off to the recumbant bike now to make sure I get my cardio excersize and these babies will be on my head keeping me company. Well done Peltor.

Customer Review: Do Not Buy These.. Instead Purchase ....

Bilsom Radio Hi-Visibility Earmuffs w/ MP3 Input.....I wanted to tell everyone I found a GREAT and I mean the best ever AM/FM hearing protection radio I've found on the market today. I looked all over and read different reviews. They were hard to find since Amazon.com doesn't sell them. THEY SHOULD SELL THEM...THEY ARE THE BEST! First off the head phones are Bilsom Radio Hi-Visibility Earmuffs with AM/FM & MP3 Input. I searched the web and found the best price at a company I have never used before called [...]. I have an old pair of the Worktunes analog/dial tuned version. They worked OK but I didn't want to chance the digital because of the reviews. When I first put the Bilsom earmuffs on and turned on the radio, I couldn't believe the sound quality. It wasn't even close to my old Worktunes. This was like a quality radio. I was only able to receive a few stations with the Worktunes but with these I think I'm able to receive as many stations as my car radio. I've used them over a two week period, using the AM, FM and the ipod adapter. I wish there was a way I could convey to everyone that is thinking of purchasing another brand to,well, don't do it! There's nothing better out there. As you can tell I can't say enough good things about them except the color. The bright neon yellow isn't the best. They might sell one that is black but the reviews I read were about the yellow ones so that's why I purchased those. They seem to weight the same as my Worktunes and the earmuffs get just as hot as the Worktunes. So far I've used them for doing the yard work (mower, blower and cutter) and various woodworking machines (table saw, planer, bandsaw) in the garage.

Customer Review: Many great uses; I'm buying a second pair

Peltor 90541 WorkTunes AM/FM Hearing Protector with Digital TuningI bought this for my son when he was 4 yrs old. He has sensory integrations issues so we go to any loud place with headphones on, just to keep him calmer. We were going to a radio synchronized fireworks show and the headset was great for him to hear the music, yet muffle the surrounding noise. We've used them with an adaptive wire on an airplane so he can watch a kids show. If I have to take him to an office setting, I plug his Leapster educational toy to it and he can hear the programs without it bothering anyone else, and that helps his focus. He's nearly 7 now and over the years we've also plugged in a CD player, DVD player, iPod for PBS podcasts & MP3 player with kids music.

I'm buying another one only because after nearly 3 yrs of a young child's dominant use or abuse, the radio wire is loose and reception is unsteady. It's still great for hearing protection or use with plug in devices, so I'm keeping it around. So my view is... for the money, it's worth it!

Back to the sensory integration for a moment. In Kindergarten with an I.E.P. we were able to allow him to wear the headset at recess. He liked having a radio because he loves music and it allowed him to flow more with the tunes than the chaos and over stimulation of 120 kids on a small K-grade playground. With out a headset, the impulsivity issues were more out of control. By first grade, he didn't need it anymore.
