Customer Review: Short life, great design, easiest install
Summary: 2 Stars
APPLICATION: Attic gable end fan mounted in south gable of my house in central Florida. It was installed 8/2005 and quit working 9/2008. The house is 21 years old with two gable end attic vents. Total fans so far: south end I am installing my fourth, north end the second one is still running.
SHORT LIFE: This unit only gave me 3 years life. It is in a very difficult location to get to, so the difficulty of replacing (or cost if you require an electrician/tradesman) far out weighs the cost of the fan. I do not consider 3 years adequate life. The other end of the house has a Master Flow PG-2 sheet metal design and has run for more than 10 years (might just be luck in reading those reviews!).
GREAT DESIGN: The rigid plastic frame is superior to the sheet metal type. It is also significantly lower profile (sticks into the attic a shorter distance).
EASIEST INSTALL: The rigid plastic frame allows you to mount it straight to the studs or frame of your vent area. You can pretty much do one corner at a time.
SUMMARY: So if ease of installation is important, you have limited area to mount, or don't care about the life this would be a good choice. For me two stars due to the importance of life for my application.
