Tools and Hardware Reviews of AeroBed Sleep Tight Inflatable Bed for KidsCustomer Review: Wish there were sheets to buy for these! Summary: 5 Stars
I really love these. I bought 2 of these for my twins when they were 3 and we needed them for a vacation rental (where my family got the room with 1 king bed.)
My kids love them and they still use them (they are 9 years old now.) Easy to inflate, deflate, roll into bag. We usually travel with only one pump (since it is heavier) and we roll the bed, included cover, a fleece kids blanket and a travel pillow right in the included duffle.
The incluced cover very nice and stays put, but it looks more like a matress pad and is white(!), plus its a little hot on your skin and slightly scratchy since it is quilted.
I looked for regular cotton sheets that would fit over the pad, but didn't see anything. It seems regular fitted sheets are too long. I may sew a casing on a regular flat twin sheet and put elastic all the way around. Maybe attach another flat sheet to the bottom of this (so the top sheet would always be attached to the bottom one?) I am lazy, though and haven't done it yet! I would welcome any comments from someone who may have done this already with tips (e.g., do I need to sew corners? Would it be easier to simply shorten a regular fitted sheet with a seam near the feet? etc.)
The bed itself has held up extremely well, no problems (even with active kids who aren't exactly gentle with it.) Great for sleepovers with friends, too.
Edit: I did buy a regular twin set of sheets and just added shorter corner seams on one end. Perfect. I also sewed 2 seams (to make a corner) on the flat sheet so that my kids don't pull on it exposing their feet. I also did the same to a fleece blanket (that I got here on amazon) so the top sheet and blanket stay well on the bed (no endless tucking!) It all fits right in the duffle.
Customer Review: AeroBed Sleep Away Bed for Kids-Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
Just received the AeroBed Sleep Away Inflatable Bed for Kids. Was very pleased with the shipping from UPS. Got here in 3 days; faster than expected since I ordered the bed less than one week before Christmas. It arrived the same day as my granddaughters arrived for the holidays. I purchased the bed for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who now is too big for a pack 'n play type bed. The enclosed electrical air pump attached easily and the bed inflated in under 30 seconds. The included flannel sheet covers the bed perfectly. Regular twin sheets over the flannel sheet cover are a little big but can be tucked under the bed easily. My granddaughter "slept like a log" the first night once she adjusted to the freedom of being able to get out of the bed by herself (can't guarantee your youngster will behave the same). There is LOTS of room for her to grow and use this bed for several years.
The storage bag will work great to keep the bed in when we store it away. Keeping the original AeroBed box to put the bagged bed into is suggested. We have another full size AeroBed and we've always kept the box. It stores much better on a shelf than just the bed in the bag.
Way to go AeroBed for designing a toddler bed with raised sides. The challenge is keeping the kids from wanting to jump on it. Hope we don't have to use the enclosed repair patches but appreciate the thought that this might be necessary.
We couldn't be any more pleased with the purchase. Super product!
Customer Review: This Bed ROCKS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our 2-1/2 year old (despite the manufacturer's statement that it's for 3 and up) and couldn't be happier. We travel several times a month to visit family, and bring this bed along for our daughter. It is super fast to inflate and deflate, and we've never had to "top it off" on extended visits. Based on the photos I saw, I had expected the side walls to be higher and was concerned when we first received it, but there hasn't been any problems with her rolling out, and she's a pretty wild sleeper. From day one, she was thrilled with the bed and wanted to use it - the trick was to keep her from jumping on it (it's a real temptation). The price tag is high - a lot more than we wanted to spend for an air bed - but after researching alternatives, it seemed clear this was a quality product, and we haven't been disappointed. Since our daughter isn't potty trained yet, and since the included sheet is very unique (you can't just slap a crib or twin fitted sheet on there), I emailed the manufacturer to see if I could buy a second sheet as backup. I was told they can't be purchased separately, but they did say a twin size duvet cover could work in a pinch (I recommend it be flannel). Being that this bed rests on the floor and is full of air, (and based on my own experience with air beds) I'd also recommend putting a heavy blanket either under the bed itself or under the sheet to insure the bed doesn't get too chilly. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.
Customer Review: Toddler approved! Summary: 5 Stars
We've had this Aerobed for almost 2 years (our daughter was only 18 months old at the time). She's now 3 1/2 years old, and it continues to be like a security blanket to her whenever we're away from home. It's been through it all...airplane trips, RV trips, road trips, and weekend trips to grandma and grandpa's house. Through it all, it has held up like a champ. She even requests it when she's sick, so that she can sleep on the floor next to our bed!
Not only does she love sleeping on it, we love it too. Some of our favorite features are: 1) oversize carry bag that has plenty of room for the bed, the cover, the pump, and even an extra sheet or two, 2) excellent air pump system that inflates the bed in seconds, and 3) an extremely well designed deflation valve that lets the air out even faster. Of course, the raised sides are a wonderful design feature, too.
I don't think I would have appreciated all of these features as much as I do without having used other air beds myself over the past couple years. My parents have another brand that takes forever to fill up (dumb air pump design and silly little valve like you'd find on a pool toy), even longer to deflate (you're required to use the pump on a reverse setting in order to get the air out), and a bag that barely (and I mean BARELY) fits the bed itself.
If you're looking for a great toddler air bed at a fantastic value, you really don't need to look any further.
Customer Review: Great bed for sleep overs, extra bed and on the road Summary: 4 Stars
I got two of these aero beds for my kids. They are 6 and 4 years old and it's almost too small for the 6 year old. She can use it for a bit longer, but she's tall for her age and won't be able to be in it for much longer. I'm glad I have a 1.5 year old who can use it when she's done with it.
Pros:
- great extra bed. The day we got this in the mail my 6 year old got sick. We blew up the bed (less than a minute) and she slept on that all day long downstairs so she could be closer to us.
- we have used it for sleep overs when friends come to visit
- we'll use it when we got to grandma and grandpa's house and on a big roadtrip this summer
- quick and easy to blow up
- the bed goes down in the middle so there are walls of sort so the kid can't roll out, very cool.
- a flannel sheet comes with it. It covers the bed, makes it soft and snuggly.
Cons:
- kind of big. We got this for camping trips but we don't think there will be room in the tent for both of these. The walls are great to keep kids in, but they also make it bigger.
- we know it's going to get a hole or leak at some point. How can you have a blow up bed and not have the kids jumping on it?
All in all it was a great buy and so far well worth the money. We haven't opened the 2nd one yet because we may need to get a bigger size for our 6 year old...we'll see.
