Customer Review: noisy, humidity gauge is not effective

We've gone through three different versions of this humidifier at this point via returns.
It's quiet when you first get it, but the fan progressively gets louder and louder. I'm not a light sleeper, but it was even bothering me before the latest return. My husband is a light sleeper and is having a lot of trouble with it.
The humidity gauge doesn't seem to work and appears to operate randomly.
The best I can say for it is that it does emit lots of mist. I'm going to try a different humidifier next time, and really can't recommend this one. Too bad.

This humidifier is great for programing humidity, fan speed, sleep mode, etc.
BUT IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER DO NOT BUY IT. It puts out white dust that will go all over your house. I have three Sharper Image Ionic breezes, on two floors of my house. I had to clean them every day and they were covered with white dust. Besides that; my furnature , TV screen, etc.were covered with white dust within two days. I buought a Honeywell with a exchangable filter that uses vapor rather than mist to humidify the air. This works great. Very little white dust. Half the cost.

I've owned this humidifier for a couple of months now. The features that I like best about it are: it regulates the ambient humidity (i.e. the unit has a humidity sensor for the room) when it reaches the desired level it automatically stops the mist; also it gives you an indication when the unit needs to be cleaned (pretty simple process); and most important the unit stops when there's not enough water (again a little indicator flashes for your attention) - furthermore, the unit is very well designed and has a very contemporary look - highly recommended!Customer Review: not recommended

At first I thought this humidifier was pretty cool (due to the features), but then after a few months of use, it started making a rattling noise which eventually would go away. After about 1 year of use, the rattling noise is constant. Personally, I'd rather have one of those consistently loud hot air humidifiers than one that rattles as bad as this thing does!
Its also a pain having to put this thing up about 3 ft in the air above the floor and when you refill the water you are almost guaranteed to spill the water a little at least.

The product works but there were the following experience spoiled it for me. My review is more a reflection on the seller than on the product
1. The order took a long time to ship
2. The box was packaged shabbily and there was a cleaning item which was promised on the box which was missing. Though the product worked as advertised
3. The Product looked used. It was wet from inside. I was led to believe that this was a brand new product.
I would caution anyone to beware of buying anything from this seller.
