Customer Review: For the Money it does OK
Summary: 5 Stars

I gave this 5 stars based on price, quality and fun. It is a small unit so you only get a few minutes of steam and this item is meant for small projects. You just can't expect a lot from this size of steamer. I believe this little steamer to be as good as any of the small units for much less money. The Company shipped the product very quickly and I had no difficulty with the lid top once I discovered that it does not screw on tightly and to remove you need to push down and turn.

Things I found it helpful in cleaning. Shining Chrome and Stainless steal. Cleaning crud around facets, drains, sinks and toilets. Works well on caulking seals, but took quite a bit of scrubbing for the grout on our counter top tiles. Shined up the front of the DishWasher, Microwave and stove top. Took a lot of scrubbing to clean the stove pan. Works well on base boards and panel doors. I took it to a house we were remodeling and was able to get some overspray paint off of the laminate cabinets(not recommended for wood cabinets) and paint off of back splash tiles. Did Ok on the laminate countertops, but not as good as I had hoped. Too small a unit to steam Iron a shower curtain I had just put up that was wrinkled. I quickly lost my patience for this.
Would not recomend this for large surface areas such as flooring or countertops. Didn't have much luck with the window attachments but worked well on mirrors and windows when I just sprayed, then wiped with a lint free cloth.

Had no luck cleaning porcelain sinks and toilets. Won't clean up hard water spots nor much soap scum. Would work well on anything stainless steel though and would Nicely shined up door handles.

For me it worked well enough and our remodel house had no hot water available so having hot water to clean with was especially helpful. After receiving this we needed to clean the inside of a 2000 gallon water tank so I decided to purchase a larger unit. (you can read my review on that).

Again if you buy this for larger projects you may be dissappointed as you will drive yourself nuts adding water 3 and 4 times just for one area with a lot of time consumption involved with the cleaning. I am glad I purchased this however and even after now owning a larger unit I will be using this for quick very small projects. But will always bring out the larger unit when it involves anything other then very small detailed work.

The only cleaners you will be able to eliminate with the use of this product is possibly Windex and 409. If you want to go entirely green you will be very disappointed. Even the larger units sold here on Amazon will not eliminate the need for your strounger cleaners.

Customer Review: Great Intro to Green Cleaning
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been interested in purchasing a high quality home steam cleaner for the past 2 years. However the price tag of $1500 has delayed that purchase. After some research on Amazon, this item was chosen based on 18 reviews with an average rating for 4 1/2 stars and price. I felt at $20 this item was, if nothing else, disposable. It is actually quite amazing for the price! I use microfiber cleaning cloths and have cleaned the bathroom sinks, tub, door knobs/ handles, microwave, counter top, smooth cooktop, shower stall and windows. This product excels at cleaning all mentioned items. I am really impressed how well this product cleans out crevices and grooves. Metal fixtures shine like crazy. My windows have never sparkled before. It even cleans out the grime in the window sills with less effort. The results are noticeably better ( than conventional scrubbing ) and the windows look practically new. My husband agreed the results are amazing for $20. I don't think that the steam is quite hot enough to thoroughly disinfect ( which is why I want a vapor steam cleaner ), but if you feel the need you can spray some sanitizer first. After getting an idea of how well the steam cleaning works, I am sold and plan to purchase a household steamer, hopefully within 6-12 months -- and that's if I'm patient! I think having this small unit will be great for daily touch ups and small jobs. After using this all weekend, I was so impressed I had to buy 3 more to " spread the joy" so to speak. The product seems well made; not flimsy at all. I've only used it for 4 days, so we'll have to see how well this holds up over time. I'm optimistic and really think I've already had my money's worth. If it turns out to be durable and reliable, even better. I highly recommend this product.
UPDATE 10.4.09 -- Wow, I can't believe how many reviews were posted after the initial 18 reviews. I noticed the rating has decreased overall but I also want to mention that my model is different ( but similar ) to the one that is pictured today. I wonder if the quality changed when the model changed? Although I don't use it all the time, I still use it regularly and it continues to work well. I've accidentally caught the cord and sent it crashing to the floor at least 3 times, maybe 4, possibly 5 ( it is possible ). I've been amazed at how resilient this item has been. It still blasts grime from crevices and I have not had any problems with the heating. So I definitely think it was worth the $20, especially since I just used it the other day and it still works like it did out of the box.

Customer Review: The best purchase you could make for home cleaning
Summary: 5 Stars

I, like many other posters for this product, admit to being incredulous initially that the Electric Steam Cleaner would work well for the cheap sale price; this was the what-the-heck inducement to buy it, and its unidentified origin; to this day I can't find anywhere on the package or inserts that identifies a legitimate manufacturer! Boy, was I wrong to doubt it. It is sturdily constructed, easy to use, and has fairly explicit instructions. The blasts of steam that come out of this thing are astonishing: I had rust stains around the footing of my powder room toilet for a couple of decades that no cleaner could touch--three blasts of steam from this little device, followed by a few passes with a terry rag, and the grout and tile look pristine!.

There are several attachments that come with the Electric Steam Cleaner that can be used for virtually any application for which steam would be appropriate, and I have not had a problem with their staying on the nozzle. By the way, the fittings in the nozzles appear to be brass, which resists corrosion, although I'd recommend using distilled water only to ensure this. That was an unexpected mark of quality that impressed me.

The one quibble I have is that the measuring cup minimum volume doesn't correspond to that in the instruction manual. The maximum volume measure does correspond to the one in the instruction manual, so I just take care to not overfill the steam cleaner, and it works fine. The minimum volume of water goes a long way for me, and the maximum certainly does, so I don't find it needs to be refilled constantly, which is good when working with steam.

Because of its size, the Electric Steam Cleaner is the perfect thing for smaller work, like sanitizing the kitchen sink and all faucets and toilets, and using this device after vinegar on stainless steel and chrome fixtures seemed to increase their shine. But that could be just my imagination. All in all, this steam cleaner has made cleaning and sanitizing the problem areas in my house easier, and has cut down the amount of time I spend doing that. A very prudent expenditure of the twenty-some bucks I paid for it.

Customer Review: WOW! This is a GREAT cleaning machine
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow. This is a GREAT cleaning machine! I've never written a review on Amazon before. But I couldn't stop saying "Wow" when I was using it. All the hard to clean places are such a snap now! I LOVE the squiggie attachment for cleaning mirrors/windows. It is SUPER easy. Then I used the squiggie on tile walls throughout my bathroom and on all flat surfaces. It works like a miracle and SO fast! SO easy. I don't want to stop using it, its so great! It can blast junk out from cracks and in tight spaces that are hard to clean in the kitchen and bathroom. It is SO satisfying to see how clean the tile at the base of the toilet can really be, blasting away at the black crack, its so clean now! It doesn't work great on grease in the kitchen. But everything else about it is fabulous. I was literally in the bathroom blasting away and saying "Fabulous!" while I was doing it. As another reviewer said, it works like a dream on baby's toys and fabrics. Formula, drool, its all a thing of the past and SO easy! I love it. No chemicals. I don't know how I lived without it. AND ONLY $20!!! I want to buy 10 more of them. I don't know how the company will be with replacement parts or service, since it seems to be a rather small, unknown company. But it makes a super duper product. I'm definitely a raving fan. And I hate to clean, but this thing makes me want to clean everything. I checked all the other reviews for steam cleaners on many sites before buying this one. I figured its got the highest reviews and is the cheapest product. I can't really go wrong spending $20 + $8 shipping. But now I know why this has the highest rating. Its a great cleaning machine.

Customer Review: All purpose steam cleaner?
Summary: 3 Stars

I researched this type of cleaner and went by reviews here. Product arrival was quick and price was right. However, be aware that you really should have earplugs when using this if you have sensitive ears! Steam burst noise is quite loud, sounding like one is in a garment factory where steam pressers are on all day. Also if you have "hard water", you might want to use distilled water or have a water softener so that the unit does not clog. I used the steam cleaner in the bathroom on the vanity and on the tiles. I did not notice any significant difference and finally used the brush attachment after just using the steamer itself. It was slow going and cleaned the tiles and vanity top ok, not great. Directions given could be a bit more graphic and specific. The knob to pour water in is hard to screw and unscrew, perhaps, a safety feature? It takes a while to get the cap on and off. I had to keep pressing down on it to unscrew, after releasing the steam as directions stated. On the plus side, the unit is very sturdy, does heat up quickly. The bursts of steam are quick and steady. This unit is good for small jobs as other reviews have stated. I intend to try to other tools and hopefully cleaning will be better. Despite all, you still may have to used other products to finish off the job. For the price it is not bad, patience using it is necessary. Follow directions carefully as you are using steam which can be quite powerful. I did not find, however, that the steam cleaned that great. The escaping steam noise made you think so. Would I buy this product again? Yes, but as stated, use has its limits. Sometimes, old fashioned methods may work better!
