Tools and Hardware Reviews of Clearmax Lightweight Pressurized Steam Cleaner and Sanitizer (Blue)Customer Review: Was great but now I don't know Summary: 5 Stars
I have been married for 35 years & this little steamer had made cleaning so much easier. I clean my whole bathroom except the toilet bowl with it-I spray & wipe with a Shamwow. I clean my whole kitchen-counters, stovetop, microwave, toaster, salt & pepper shakers. It cleans the inside of the fridge & oven too. Just spray & you've killed all bacteria. Use it on doorknobs. I clean my mirrors, my formica furniture, my chrome & mirror & glass wall unit with it. It has cut my cleaning time by at least a third. Can't beat the price either. Yesterday I wrote this review. It was my second steam cleaner-the cap broke & ToolsNow sent me a new steamer. This morning I was cleaning my mirrors & suddenly there was no steam. I unplugged it, emptied it, let it cool down then refilled it again. Plugged it in, the light went on, but the steamer didn't get hot at all & the trigger produced no steam. I called them when I got to work and they are sending me another steamer today for the last time-has a 90 Day Guarantee (purchased 1/17/09. I bet this little steamer isn't as good as I thought. I took very good care of it. Don't know whey it's not working.
Customer Review: Very good but not the ultimate cleaning tool. Summary: 4 Stars
I have been doing a lot of research on steam cleaners lately, almost bought one made by the same manufacturer as the ladybug, but could not bear to spend almost a $1000 or even $500. So after reading a lot of reviews I decided to go for the cheaper version, so when I saw this one for about $20 I said to myself, well, if it does not work I'll just be out $20 plus shiping no big deal.
My thoughts on this machine is that it is a well made machine that can clean crevices and places that you can't clean with ordinary cleaners, did not do so well with grease or baked on foods. Did really good on the bathrooms, toilets etc... did wonderful on the windows. Did O.K with soap scum but not perfect. Overall a good machine but you will still need to use other cleaners to take care of what the machine can not take care of. So my thought is if you can afford to buy a more expensive machine go ahead it will definetely do a better job, the best ones are made in Italy. If not go ahead and spend the $20 on this one maybe it can clean some areas that you can't clean otherwise.
Customer Review: I like it!!!!!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I was a bit leary when reading reviews but ordered it any. The price was great and it was shipped fast. When I opened the box it had a very strong rubber smell. I'm sure it will go away after some use. The instruction manual is the pits. No explaination or tips. Just the parts and very BASIC instructions. You have to go slow and figure it out. I did test it on kitchen faucets that collect grime around the edges and are hard to move and the machine blasted it all way. You do need to have a few rags handy as steamers make water puddles and need to be wiped up right away along with the grunge. I use distilled water as I don't want rust later down the line. The top is still a challenge for me as it is hard to pull out. The machine works great and holds steam longer than my canister one. As someone said you need patience and common sense to figure out how to work this as the instruction manual is pitiful. It is a great buy and solid (even though made in China) and I feel this one is a LOT better than the advertised ones on TV.
Customer Review: fun to use... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this because the prospect of doing a really thorough job of cleaning the tiles in my bathroom with all the built up soapscum and some mold was depressing me, I knew it would take several days and lots of elbow grease. I thought this little gadget would make the job easier. A friend of mine told me he found one in a thrift store-- a different brand, the Shark. I investigated. The shark is twice as expensive, and this one seemed to get better reviews. So I took a chance. Make no mistake, you will need a cleaning agent and lots of rags and paper towels. I used scrubbing bubbles and scrubby sponges. The heat from the steamer really loosens up the dirt and after I rinsed all my tiles, I used windex on them and now they sparkle. Oh most of the attachments are a joke, I just use the long nozzle and the curved tip is good too. I threw the rest away, now it all fits into the box it came in. Also, I'm afraid of spiders, even the little yellow common house spiders. I can't wait to blast the next one that comes crawling into my apartment!
Customer Review: Terrible product + nonexistent customer service = don't buy! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this product with high hopes based on the reviews. When it arrived I carefully filled it and assembled it, although I had trouble getting the screw-top off, and actually attempted to call Customer Service to see if I was missing something (no answer, and I just needed to work hard to get it off).
It didn't clean anything! I tried it on my kitchen sink, the grout surrounding it and my vinyl shower floor. It did not clean visible dirt, or even soap scum on either surface, even when I held the nozzle as close as possible to the surface. I tried all nozzle attachments and none changed the performance of the cleaner. It was also completely ineffective on my glass shower doors. I called Customer Service to seek suggestions (or a refund), was forced to leave a message after several attempts, and was never called back.
My advice: don't buy it! There might be a steam cleaner out there that works, but this isn't it.
