After researching all the other brands I choose this one because it had a nice digital easy to read display,not a complicated needle type. After a week of using it I bought another one for my wife. The only complaints I have is with the battery life of around 4 to 5 hours of use. I did have one instance when it started cutting on and off with certain movemints but after changing out the batteries I think it will be ok now, I hope. The rod joint isn't very steady but after wrapping electrical tape around the male part of the shaft it now feels pretty secure. I have found plenty of change and even my telephone lines at around a foot deep! Be very carefull digging in your yard!Customer Review: seller was helpful

I was not happy with this item. It was a gift for my son and he loved getting it but it does not find a whole lot. My main gripe was that the headphones did not work at all and when I contacted someone (I thought F&N) about it I was told the whole thing needed to be retruned and refunded which would take 6 weeks then we could order another. After writing a negative review I was contacted by F&N and they ended up sending me new headphones that work properly. So now I would recommend trying the device but if you are not happy please contact F&N because amazon customer service sucks.Customer Review: Not the quality I expected

This item seemed like the best value for my money. We put it together, and realized the coupler holding the two pieces of shaft together was extremely flimsy. If you tighten it too much, it falls apart. We were able to put the pieces together again, but I'm sure it will fall apart again.
The next problem is my husband, who is 5'10", has to lean over to be able to scan the ground. It's not made for a person with any height.
I plan to return the item and look for one locally where I can see what I am buying.

Great value for the money because everything is included to get started. Purchased as a Christmas gift for our daughter and she found a few coins and an old railroad spike. She was excited to find anything at all. A great unusual gift for anyone of any age. Lots of fun.

I bought Explorer and this Simple metal detector (ASIN: B002CHZ5SQ) together. Both items look very nice and operate exactly as described. I like the comfort feeling of the headphone coming with Explorer. I gave the Simple one to my son to play with his buddies. I have tried both models, both of them are so simple to learn and easy to use. Unless you want to search gold in NV or CA, these two models do the work really well.
