I gave it 5 stars because I had realistice expectations and this model met them. It was for a trip to the beach for my 7 year old daughter. We practiced at home in the yard, found some bottle caps and nails. At the beach, they found a buried lobster trap. The kids enjoyed it. If you are a serious treasure hunter, well then, you wouldn't be looking at this model in the first place. Works just find for beginners and kids.Customer Review: It is good.

I bought one from a local dealer and started scanning my boy friend's yard (house built in 1920's). Immediately I picked up all sorts of signals. After a while I became used to the different tones and began discriminating what to and not to dig. I found 3 spoons, one of them is silver, and 5 wheat pennies. Product arrived as stated in the description, in just a few minutes of taking it out of the box it was working. I haven't been able to get the disc adjustment right. The kids and I find stuff( coins, cans, bottle caps, iron bar) and have a lot of fun but I just can't figure out what we're digging for by what the meter is doing, maybe it's just me. After reading the review's posted about this item, I ordered it... It was mailed and received very quickly... It's just as discribed and then some... everything went together well and I'm looking forward to taking it out and using it... I tried it indoors using coins and other things and works great... Since the metal detector was a Christmas present for a friend I cannot give a review as to its merits. It looks very nice and when put together it beeped as it was supposed to. Right now there is snow everywhere and we won't know how it works until spring. Sorry. That is the best I can do!
