Tools and Hardware Reviews of Electrically Conductive Wire Glue BondsCustomer Review: Worked For Me Summary: 4 Stars
I am a HAPPY buyer. I had to reattach the threaded coax connector to the TV where it has broken off. I used a strong epoxy to bond the connector to the metal base where it needed mounting but the poor electrical connections left a very snowy picture. My main concern with the Wire Glue was its electrical conductivity so I ran a battery of tests that confirmed that it did indeed conduct electricity over small gaps with a small resistance. I then applied the Wire Glue to the threaded coax connector, both to the end of the flat wire leading into the TV and around the base of the connector where it contacted its metal seat. The TV picture is now perfect. The Wire Glue is very runny and, after being thoroughly mixed, quickly separates into a thick glop at the bottom and a thin liquid. I let it sit for 5-10 minutes after mixing to hopefully allow some of the separation to occur and then, to the best of my ability, dragged up glue from the bottom of the little jar to apply where needed.
Customer Review: Doesn't work at all Summary: 1 Stars
We've tried to get this product to work many times.
First failure:
We've stirred it, put it on two clean metal contacts, waited for it to dry, then connected the battery and found zero function.
Second failure:
It was stirred, and a drop of it was allowed to dry on a clean negative end of an AA battery. When the voltmeter was connected through the drop, we got zero voltage, ZERO. When the voltmeter contacted any other part of the battery end, I got around 1.4 volts.
Third failure:
Frustrated, we just stuck multimeter leads into the tub, and got "error". The resistance was so high the multimeter couldn't read it. (I know, it would probably work better dry, but we tried this anyways.)
Save your money on a different product. Get something that actually works as an adhesive while you're at it.
Customer Review: Wire Glue Failure Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the Wire Glue to reconnect a connection on a 3-volt LED. I read and followed the directions to the letter. After the 24 hours and the Wire Glue had dried I turned on the light only to find that the connection failed.
I removed all of the Wire Glue and pre-tested the wire and made sure the connection and LED were good. It was, and the light was running nice and bright. So, again I used the Wire Glue and waited for it to dry. And again I was rewarded with a non-working light.
I am seriously disappointed in this product. It fails to live up to its advertised claims. I have written the company several times and all of my emails are ignored. It is obvious that the company does not care about its customers or product performance. Do yourself a huge favor and save the 5 bucks and stay away from this product.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
A connection came loose on the rear window defroster on my car. I soldered it a couple times but it's in such an awkward position, I couldn't get enough solder on it to hold for any length of time.
I thought if this Wire Glue worked as advertised, it would be just the thing. I followed directions to the letter but had a hard time getting it to hold. It finally set with a piece of tape holding the glued connection in place. After 24 hours I removed the tape and the connection held but when I turned the defroster on, the connection arced. It's still holding but just enough to cause electrical interference in my stereo. The defroster won't work. I guess I'll have to take it loose and get the soldering gun back out. Don't waste your money on this stuff.
Customer Review: the instructions say... Summary: 4 Stars
It seems to work well enough. Its *very* runny, so if you have a number of repairs to make you'll probably have to make them one at a time and wait for each to dry before doing the next one. That can be time consuming. Because its so runny, its nearly impossible to just lay down a 'wire' of this stuff in a neat way. You can do it in a messy way though.
The instructions say:
-use pencil eraser or sandpaper and make the contact points "bright and shiny" first.
-mix thoroughly
-use stick or toothpick to apply
-takes several hours to dry
-for stronger bond, coat with super glue after its dry
-if the jar of wire glue starts to dry out, just mix in a few drops of water.
