Customer Review: Good flow, mediocre build
Summary: 3 Stars
This shower head gives a comfortable "Turbine Spray" but it lacks the feeling of standard pressure. It can also be switched to a more traditional spray or a combination of the two. The traditional spray uses more water and gives a stronger "pins and needles" feel. The in between setting gives some traditional spray and some turbine spray. My incoming water pressure is about 86 PSI, so if the head is limiting the water to stated quantities, the pressure I feel should be the same as what others should expect.
The turbine spray's lack of forcefulness is not necessarily a bad thing. Since the water is aerated better and has more surface area, it can feel a bit cooler unless you raise the water temperature, so the savings in water might be partly offset by an increase in heating cost depending on your comfort level. Any of the three settings might feel comfortable, depending on your preference.
The problems are have are with build and with functionality. The "auto return" feature might be nice for something, but I'm not quite sure what. I would think that some users might prefer to stick to a setting rather than having to start off with a default. Having an "auto return" feature that could be enabled or disabled might have been nicer. My wife is short, and I don't have the option of changing the setting for myself and later setting it back to where it was, or even leaving it on any setting but the default. I think the feature might be a good one if you are in the motel business and you want to impose a default setting, but for home use I can't see why it's better than leaving it where it was set.
The other problem I have is with build. The "chrome" version, not surprisingly, is chrome plated rather than made of chrome. What might be surprising is that it's chrome plated lightweight plastic. I might have expected that from a $15 head, but I thought this one would be built better. Even turning it by hand caused a couple of tabs to snap off where the top screws on. That won't affect functionality, but even rotating the body for cleaning might run the risk of the head falling apart.
