Customer Review: Cordless Screwdriver doesn't work AND Apollo cust. service is terrible!

I got this set as a gift and was so excited to have a set of tools that my husband might leave alone. A set of tools to keep in the house for those odd jobs that moms have to get done. I used just about every tool in there and was pleased but I had to wait for my cordless screwdriver to charge. I followed the directions exactly. Once the allotted time had been spent on charging it, I unplugged it. I could feel that the batteries were warm so I knew a charge must have gone into it. Unfortunately it didn't work AT ALL. Didn't even turn a quarter inch. I tried all different tactics to get it to work and nothing worked.
When receiving this as a gift, there was a large red piece of paper in the package that said NOT to contact your store where you bought it if you should run into any trouble. Instead, call Apollo and they would help you. So I called their hotline and the woman on the other line told me that I would need to send the screwdriver in to their company so they could assess the problem. This was fine I thought. So I asked how they handle paying for the screwdriver to be sent to them. She said they don't pay for it. But, I said, it isn't my problem that the screwdriver is broken. It is the company's fault so they should pay for shipping either way or provide a new screwdriver. She said no and said, "It doesn't cost very much. JUST DO IT!". I said that didn't make any sense and that I was going to just return the gift to Amazon because they would pay for a product to be sent back that was defective. And that I would also not recommend Apollo tools to my friends. She said very loudly, "Fine, you do that!" and hung up on me.
I was very impressed with Amazon's customer service. They took the whole set back because of the defective screwdriver and paid for shipping and everything. Instead I got another pink tool set made by a different company and it has turned out to be excellent!

Ive had this set for over a year and have yet to break anything in it- and it has had EVERYthing that I've needed for my projects around the house. I live in an apartment and just needed a nice complete kit for simple things like hanging art/pictures poking a hole through the wall to pull the cable through from the other side lol, changing my doorknob, etc. obviously for around $30 for an entire set you arent looking at something you will keep forever nor would you use this to build a house... but i'm pretty ruff and have yet to damage anything. I gave 4 stars because the cordless screwdriver doesnt really hold the charge so i do have to charge it before i plan on using it- i dont know if this is the case with all cordless screwdrivers, but this one just doesnt keep the charge. Also, once or twice it hasnt had enough torque to tighten a screw that isnt perfectly set in the hole- but this has been rare and puting the screw in correctly would alleviate this problem. it's 4.8 volts which is more than most other cordless screwdrivers that seem to be 3.6 and below (and cost about the same as this whole set) so it is possible the battery is a problem here too- but not a big deal.
Now, to what others are saying about the "drill" not being powerfull enough... that would be true, if this were a drill. No where does this claim to have a drill and drill bits. This is an electric cordless screwdriver. there is a big difference. Just because you can use a drill as an electric screwdriver doesnt mean you can use an electric screwdriver as a drill. the main difference from what i can see is that drills have WAY more power since they are meant for DRILLING duhh!
So, conclusion. If you do not have a tool kit for every day around the house or apartment things... or just LOVE all things pink.. this is a really great set!

I've been searching for a set of pink tools for a while now - just something with the essentials. So when I came across the Apollo Precision Tools set, I figured I'd give them a try.
This set definitely includes all of the essentials and then some - which is great - and I love the color too, but some of the tools seem to have really shoddy workmanship. Also, they are packaged in such a way that they are extremely difficult to get out and put back in - in fact it took 2 people just to get the scissors out of my kit, and 3 weeks later they're still out because we can't make them fit back into the slot.
Overall, if you are looking for a really good set of pink tools, this probably won't meet your needs - but if you just want something to use on smaller jobs like hanging pictures, and you don't mind storing the tools in something other than the case it comes in, than this set should be just fine.

As a gal who can't stand waiting until my "he-men" get around to fixing things, I prefer to fix things myself. This toolbox is just OK for small things around the house. Definitely not a beefy tool box for MOST things around the house. It is PINK, a saving grace, the guys tend not to want to be caught dead carrying OR using PINK girly tools *YIPPEE*.
Gettng my drift about disappearing tools that fail to find their way back to my tool box? NOTHING is worse than having to fix something and your tools are nowhere to be found. Dumb looks and IDA, IDA KNOW, the only response you get from the assumed guilty parties. I'd like beefier tools in PINK. It would save me from hiding tools so I can find them when I need them!
I gave 2 stars because of price point... only worth less than 20 bucks.
Customer Review: Quality, Except for Poor Workmanship

This tool kit has all of the hand tools and a few more that a (more likely woman) will need. I have so far found all of the tools to be sturdy and well designed.
Upon opening my Apollo Tool Box, I immediately noticed the poor workmanship. All of the tools have a CHINA print or label on them, as the entire kit was Made in China. There are unfinished edges to the plastic pieces (flakes or rough edges). The tools overall have the appearance of coming through a factory line and immediately being put in the box, without a final check.
All tools have proved durable (though I have only had this for a month) but the presentation of the tools is surprisingly poor. Perhaps the appearance is of no concern to some, but if given as a gift, this tool box may look "cheap" due to the workmanship.
