Tools and Hardware Reviews of Aquasana AQ-4000 Drinking Water SystemCustomer Review: Amazing water! Awful manufacturing! Summary: 3 Stars
I have been using this filter for less than a year and the water quality is awesome. It takes out more contaminants than most systems and the water tastes great.
The problem is that the housing is badly made. Once a houseguest accidentally ran hot water through it and the tubing burst and it was an expensive hassle to get it replaced. Now, for seemingly no reason, the housing for the filters actually cracked. My suspicion is that somebody ran too much pressure through it.
Because it is such a good filter I am actually going to buy another one. I hope it isn't a stupid choice and that if I'm really careful to not let anyone put a lot of water pressure through it that the plastic won't break again. Why can't they make it more durable!?
Customer Review: Poor quality Summary: 1 Stars
My wife and I bought an Aquasana water filtering system a few months ago and I must say that it has not been a good experience. In fact since then I have decided to avoid anything from Aquasana. The device is not well made. Changing the filters is very difficult because the plastic nut that must be loosened and tightened is hard to grasp and tends to strip. After two filter changes our unit is useless because of this cheaply made soft plastic nut. Within a few weeks the unit leaks and the shut off valve stops working automatically. It sticks in the open position and must be closed manually. Recently we purchased another system from Puritec and have been much happier with it and with the service that the company provides.
Customer Review: The water taste better...but it ain't distilled Summary: 4 Stars
Removes all chlorine and fluoride flavor as far as my taste buds can tell it reduced my tap water from 140ppm to 100ppm as measured with a cheapo TDS meter I'm pleased with it easy installation that even my non-mechanically inclined mother could do I might get one for every faucet in my house.
Cons
1. Can't purify hot water
2. Pricey 100 bucks for a dispenser and plastic housing for 50 dollar filter(It does come with the filter however)
3.140ppm to 100ppm...is that good? I would expect something More significant for 100 bucks
4.50 bucks a filter...
Pros
Probably the best system out there in this price range
Customer Review: Everyone should have one! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this because our naturopathic physician said this is the best water to drink...with a carbon filter. I compared this with several other systems, and overall, this scored the best in filtering a variety of contaminants and is one of the least expensive to purchase and maintain. It is compact, takes up little space under the sink, installs easily and the accompanying faucet is attractive. We have had no trouble with it, and I am so happy to assist in saving the environment from more plastic water bottle contamination. I would recommend this product highly as one of the more affordable, quality water filtration systems.
Customer Review: Aquasana needs to address durability issue Summary: 1 Stars
Similar to other reviewers, I am on my 3rd housing unit after a year and a half of use due to cracked housing. Like with other reviewers, customer support initially suggested that our water pressure was perhaps too high. My house was built in 1914 and high water pressure is a problem I wish I could have. Luckily for us, my wife did subscribe to the lifetime filter program, so the company we purchased it from (bestfilters) has had to replace the unit free of charge each time. They do charge $10 for shipping however. I sincerely hope Aquasana addresses the durability issue. Aside from that, the water looks and tastes good.
