Tools and Hardware Reviews of Arrow Fastener ET200 Heavy Duty Electric Nail Gun, shoots up to 1 1.4-Inch Brads

Customer Review: drivn4par
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased my ET200 nail gun to do some molding and other light work while having my kitchen remodeled. I read the instructions, simple enough. So I did some practice nailing before doing the floor molding. I started with the 1.25" nails. The first few shots left the nail exposed about .25". Okay, press down harder, no difference. Try a softer wood, still left with .25" exposed nail. So I reviewed the instructions, nothing there. Lets try the web page. Nice looking site but a serious lack of help. The FAQs' were canned to sell accessories. No real product support. I tried some smaller one inch nails and pretty much the same problem, but those 5/8" nail gets driven in almost flush. I took the first back and tried another. It goes back tomarrow.

Customer Review: Arrow ET200 Electric Nail Gun
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with the Arrow ET200 Electric Nail Gun. I have used it for moulding and paneling and am very happy with the way it works. It allows me to pin the thin moulding in place and then go along the length of the moulding to secure it in place. I can hold the moulding in place one-handed and use the ET200 with the other hand. Much, much easier than trying to use a hammer, nail and nail set. I have also used it to install bead-board type paneling as wainscoting in a bathroom. Again, the ET200 allows me to get into hard-to-reach places that using a hammer & nail would be more difficult.

I am very satisfied and extremely glad I purchased it.

Customer Review: Failed my initial test...
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this nailer at a local home depot only because the reviews weren't good and I figured if it didn't work well I could quickly bring it back...
Good thing I did. I bought it along with one box of each of the size brads it used. Took it out of the case, and figured I'd try out the longest brads (1 1/4") figuring if they worked, it was good to go. I tried it on a peice pine (soft wood). I wasn't able to get one brad all the way into the wood. There was typically 1/4" of the brad left to be hammered in. No matter how I tried it just wouldn't sink the brad. So, I immediately took it back. Too bad, I'd love it if it just worked!

Customer Review: Works Well If Used Properly
Summary: 4 Stars

For the tool to work properly, there are two (2) main considerations: Power & Penetration. Power must be available to the tool at ALL times. If not plugged directly into the wall outlet, you must use heavy duty/12 ga. or thicker extension cords: the cords must not exceed 30' for 12 ga. or 50' for 10 ga. If you do not provide enough power to the tool (i.e., due to voltage drop along the extension cord), you can damage/burnout the tool, trip your breaker, etc. Allow a few seconds between firings. For penetration, you need power, so address this first. It's an electric nail gun, not a pneumatic. Works well for me.

Customer Review: Disappointing Power
Summary: 1 Stars

I agree with the review above. The tool needs more power. I work on oak, and cannot get the 1" or 1 1/4" brads to penetrate fully. I tried 2 hands and putting my weight into it, but still no good. The nails are very difficult to set by hand as they bend easy. When I tried to remove the brad, it would snap in half! Very disappointing, since the tool appears to be good quality and it never jams.

I contemplated buying a pneumatic nail gun or a cordless nailer. The pneumatic is cumbersome and the cordless is expensive. I'm going back to using my nail spinner, hammer, and nail set.
