Customer Review: A Real Bargain
Summary: 5 Stars
After replacing my wood coat rack for the third time due to broken legs and hanger pegs (it kept falling over too many times) I decided to get something stronger and more stable.
This rack costs twice as much as the typical wood rack, but it looks like it should last at least 10 times longer while adding umbrella storage and enough weight and stability to greatly reduce the possibility of tipping over.
If it had 3 legs instead of 4 it would conform to any floor irregularities far better. Fortunately, this one sits very stable on a hard floor surface.
Another questionable design decision is to attach the pole to the base with a simple screw connector which mates the top face of the base to the bottom end of the pole. This design requires very tight manufacturing tolerances to assure the surfaces mate without a tilt. Fortunately, my sample was built to the required tolerances and the pole has zero tilt to it.
Aside from these questionable design decisions, the rack is very handsome and functions perfectly.
It would take a lot to knock this rack over and I really can't see how it ever would fall - but if it did the pole would be sure to go out of plumb and the coat holders would be bent. Fixing it would likely be more difficult than fixing a wooden rack.
In summary - I heartily recommend getting this coat rack. Compared to the costs and designs of its competition, this one is a real bargain.
