Customer Review: Nice little gizmo for my outdoor lights

I love these switches! I bought three of them and they've worked great for 4 months now in turning my front and back porch lights on/off. The solar timer leaves a little to be desired as it turns the lights on about a 1/2 hour too early and a 1/2 hour too long in the morning. But I bypassed the solar feature and manually programed it to the time I want. I just update it once a month or so. Very easy to program. How long they will hold up I don't know, but these are doing the job for me now. I can go out at anytime and not worry about the outdoor lights coming on. They're shining bright when I get home. Just need some basic wiring exprience to install these. Not hard at all. I highly recommend them.Customer Review: Solar Timer Switch works as promised!

Aube Solar Timer Switch was easy to order, easy to install, and easy to program. I have used other "automatic" timers that I have to adjust every few weeks for changes in daylight as sunset shifts throughout the year. These switches do it all. They come with lists of nearby cities to calculate your local latitude and longitude to establish local sunset times. You can also get the same information readily on-line or from a GPS navigation radio if you have one... The only other feature I can think of to add would be if the switch could automatically adjust for daylight savings time. But if I only have to mess with the thing twice a year, I guess I shouldn't complain. Great product!Customer Review: Excellent switch; much, much better than intermatic switches

I used this switch to replace an already installed intermatic switch that failed after one year of use. This is an excellent replacement. It has automatic settings for turning on at sunset and off at sunrise based on my longitude/latitude.
Unfortunately it does not have as much schedule flexibility as some intermatic switches - it requires the same settings for every day and doesn't have weekday or weekend settings. However, this wasn't a problem in my installation because I only require that the outdoor lights turn on at the same time every day. I'll gladly take a reduced schedule in a switch that works every day, unlike the junk that Intermatic makes.

This is an excellent product. It does exactly what it says it will do. It was easy to install (although you do need to be comfortable doing some basic wiring - as you would if installing a light switch) and set up. I programmed one porch light to come on at sunset and off at sunrise and another to come on at sunset and off at midnight and have not touched either one since! I always know the house will not be dark when I get home and I never have to remember to turn off lights in the morning. Since it follows the same pattern every single day, it is more difficult for anyone to know when I am on vacation. Overall it is a well-designed product.Customer Review: Worked well at first, but died too soon.

I've used this switch for the past year and a half or so, and it did work well. Unfortunately, it just died and now I can't even turn the light on manually. I assume that the internal battery is dead, but looking inside, I see that it is soldered in so not readily replaceable.
For the price, I would have expected more than the time I got out of it. It also would have been better if the switch could still be used as a manual switch once the battery runs out. Now, I have to shell out another 35[...] to get a new switch. It didn't save me that much money in electricity over its short little life.
