Customer Review: Great timer - easy to install - easy to set up

This was the least expensive timer switch I found on Amazon with the programmable latitude/longitude coordinates. It arrived quickly and I had it installed in 5 minutes. The only thing I didn't like was the cheap screws that it includes. The heads are soft so make sure you have a screwdriver that fits well or you'll round off the heads.
The instructions were clear and simple. They include lat/long coordinates for major cities, but I got them from Google for my town and that worked too. As soon as I entered the data, the light came on - just like it was supposed to.
The switch body is fairly large so make sure you have a full depth switch box that isn't full of wires or it may not fit.

I've long used in-wall timers to control exterior lighting on my house. In the past I used the Intermatic timers and found them to be reliable but with one major flaw: they could not handle inductive loads such as those created by energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs. When you're lighting up your property for 8-12 hours per night, this becomes a very costly omission!
Enter the Aube by Honeywell. This timer can handle inductive loads while providing the same nifty features of the Intermatic. Granted, the Aube has fewer timer options but it this makes it much simpler to configure. The most important features (such as adjusting on/off times to sunset/sunrise) are present.

I gave up on the Intermatic timers and after checking out timers on line, got two Aube T1034A-3W timers. They were simple to install and the programming wasn't too difficult at all.
Unlike the Intermatic timers, the aube units are very flush and do not stick out from the faceplate.
The manual may be a bit confusing, but a quick reread results in it making sense. I'll be watching to see how well the timers operate over the long haul. Someone noted that there is no battery backup -- the memory, so they save, holds programming for 30 days.
My initial thought is that the move to Aube was definitely worth it!

Easy install. FOrtunately I had 3 wires and not two. If you do have two wires to this timer it will not work or require some fancy wiring.
Using GPS coordinates to set your location is a bit odd, but works perfectly.
Much preferred over the Intermatic I bought at the Orange big box store. I went through 2 of those timers in 2 years. Their issue is they still use a mechanical switch to flip the switch inside the box. THIS AUBE timer is completely electronic. Look to have it working until I sell the house.
I also use a 40W CFL light.
Customer Review: Work Just Fine for Florescent Light

I have installed this switch for about 4 weeks now. I used it to control a compact florescent light in the front porch. It has worked flawlessly.
By following the instruction sheet, the installation and programing were done easily enough.
Pro: Solar feature that automatically adjust sun set and sun up time is great.
Con: Pricey. No back light. The back light would be a big help during the programming. I wished there was a back light that can be turned on/off.
