Tools and Hardware Reviews of BRK Brands 9120B Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, Single Individual from Contractor PackCustomer Review: I'm 5 minutes away from ripping them all out Summary: 1 Stars
I have the same review as everyone else. These things seemingly beep in the middle of the night, and scare our 2 year old out of his mind. Replacing the batteries doesn't seem to work, I've burnt through a 12 pack of Duracell D's in the past six months, with only 7 detectors. As I write this, I'm taking long deep breaths and trying to calm myself because I too am ready to discharge a weapon directed at these things.
When house was remodeled, these came installed. Warning, do NOT buy this brand. Not kidding. REDRUM.
Customer Review: Fantastic Tech Support Summary: 5 Stars
I called Tech Support for a problem I was having with the smoke detectors that were in my condo that I recently purchased. They gave me clear and precise instructions on how to silence them. They also told me that the detectors were 15 years old and that they should be replaced, which I agreed. They gave me the replacement model that would fit the wiring harness that was already in place so switching them out was a snap. Very good support, I will continue to purchase their products, as they are quality along with great support.
Customer Review: Wish I'd read the reviews first! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought these as a replacement for BRK 4120 detectors that were more than 10 years old. They (9120B)were easy enough to install and worked fine on battery power, but when connected to the system (12 detectors in our house), they chirped constantly. I returned them and got BRK/First Alert SC9120B combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and they work fine, but they cost about 3 times as much ($35 each). But my wife is no longer irritated and I no longer feel like pulling my hair out. And Amazon returns are awesome!
Customer Review: Avoid this product Summary: 1 Stars
I have also been experiencing random loud chirps from my hard-wired smoke alarms over the course of several months (yes, usually occurring in the middle of the night). Did everything customer service said to do i.e. remove battery, hold down button, make sure nothing else shares the circuit. Finally was smart enough to toss them in the garbage and replace them with Kidde alarms (model i4618). Nice product. The wires even come pre-stripped for easy installation. Everyone in the house has slept soundly ever since.
Customer Review: Pulled Them All Out Summary: 1 Stars
I had 12 of these devices connected in my new house, hardwired type. Every 6 months they would sound at all hours of the night for days. My wife and I would blow air into them and they would sound again. They went off typically at night, 1 am, 3 am etc. After suffering through this for a couple of years, we pulled them all out and replaced them with another brand. I would NOT recommend these to anyone wanting a good night sleep in their own home. I had BRK 4120B hardwired smoke detectors.
