I just purchased 3 of these to replace 15 year old BRK hardwire units that were in my house. The alarms on the old units were starting to go off randomly at all hours. I decided, despite reading other reviews on this product, to purchase the same brand since they weren't very expensive and they had several good features. I took the old ones out and replaced the new ones in under 10 minutes. It was quite easy. Although I've only had them a few days, no random alarms are going off.Customer Review: Piece of Junk

Just like other reviewers this unit gives false alarms, usually in the middle of the night setting off all the other alarms in the house. For some reason the builder put this alarm in the attic and another brand throughout the rest of the house(have had not problems with the other units). Have replaced it once and problem started again after 6 months.
Save yourself time and aggravation and buy from a different manufacture. This alarm shouldn't even be on the market.

Most reviewers report random chirping. In my case, I replaced the battery and couldn't get it to stop chirping every minute, until I found this advice elsewhere on the web:
1. Unplug detector from power (or flip circuit breaker)
2. Remove battery
3. Hold down Test button for 20 seconds
4. Replace battery
5. Turn power/breaker back on
This stopped mine from chirping every minute. Give it a try on yours.

For the first time in my life- I considered discharging a firearm in my home last night. I could go into detail just how horrific these alarms are, but I have to leave for my appointment with my new Therapist after last nights hellish events. This wasn't the first time having issues with this "alarm system;" however, it will definitely be the last. If you have a home with tall ceilings and don't own a ladder, I recommend the purchase of a 12 gauge..Customer Review: Easy installation

I already have several of these in my house. The advantage of this smoke detector is that if one sounds off, they all sound off. I purchased this to install into a room addition. I had no difficulty installing this and splicing it into the exiting network of smoke detectors. I can see where improperly spliced wires can prevent these from operating effectively. If you don't know how to install one of these, contact a licensed professional.
