This product is TERRIBLE! We have a combination of 4120Bs and 9120Bs and they have gone off intermittently ever since our electricians installed these. A lot of the time, these go off during the middle of the night, probably due to power fluctuations--but I agree with the poster who questioned "Why have a battery backup?" if the thing won't work. There are undoubtably going to be fluctuations of the power grid; but when these go off for that reason, in my mind is reflective of poor design. Replacing the battery is a challenge worthy of a the most expert puzzle solver. My advice -- look for another brand, or buy earplugs.Customer Review: Throwing them all away

These pieces of junk should be the subject of a class action lawsuit. They are not so much "smoke" detectors as "warm food" detectors. Almost every time we turn on the oven (important: NO smoke whatsoever), these go off in a disorienting and painfully loud cacophony of shrieks. If I was awakened by this sound, I would probably wet myself, run into a wall, and burn to death. We are removing all of them and throwing them in the trash, where they will doubtlessly scream all the way to their rightful resting place in hell. I agree with everyone. This smoke detector is garbage. I have been trying for three days to correct the constant chirping from my upstairs hallway smoke dectector. I have even replaced it with a new one. They worked fine for the first two years (brand new house) and now I am going to have to be comitted because of these things. I will probably rip them all out tomorrow and go with battery only smoke detector. I've had it! Do not wasted your money on this. I also have these in a vacation condo and after three years I had the same problem. TO SAVE YOUR SANITY DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!Customer Review: A HORRIBLE detector

Do you like to stay up all night listening to the sound of a high-pitched chirp once every minute? If so, this is the detector for you. I've replaced the battery 4 times in 6 days, nothing has worked. I've vacuumed all around and inside, and it continues to beep. I've called the company, and their representative told me that they receive NUMEROUS calls like mine EVERY DAY. Do you think there's a problem? YES! This detector is clearly doing more harm than good. BRK has undoubtedly manufactured a defective product and breached every warranty. Buy this alarm if you don't like to sleep.Customer Review: So far it works for me and they are cheap (30% less than) on Amazon.com

I ordered 6 of them and it took 5 min to install all 6. My old Smoke alarms activated all (6) at once one night and I called local Fire department. They checked the alarms and told me to replace all. I think we have to replace these after every 10 years. So, I was looking for them and found on Amazon.com for $9.50 (in store it is $15 each). Not seen the issues that others reported so far. Also, you can not just buy some other model and install because the wiring is different and you have to re-wire them again if you do not buy other models that do not have similar pins. I hope this helps.
