Tools and Hardware Reviews of Back to Nature RS01 Ready Strip Plus Paint and Varnish RemoverCustomer Review: Unreliable and sloppy quality assurance Summary: 1 StarsMy first purchase of Ready Strip (quart) was used on painted maple cabinets. I applied a 1/8" layer of the stripper and let it sit overnight. The next day, the paint removed easily with a plastic stripper in 3" strips. After finishing the quart, I purchased a gallon through BIC Superstore. When I opened it, the consistency was very runny and smelled absolutely foul. Compared to the quart, the color of the product should have been mint green, thick and pasty, with a mild odor.
After a no-fuss exchange, the second gallon I received was thick and pasty, a darker green (than mint), and smelled normal. I assumed the product was OK. So I applied the stripper and left it overnight. When I went to remove it the next day, just the layer of stripper came off without any paint. I had to use 40-grit sandpaper to remove the renaming unaffected and sticky paint. What a mess and waste of money.
This product is completely unreliable and Back to Nature needs to provide quality assurance to its customers. They should stamp the product the day it's made. But instead, they profit by making customers play an expensive guessing game. I'm still trying to find an environmentally friendly and quality product and it won't be Ready Strip.
Customer Review: great product, but it can be defective Summary: 3 StarsTried 2 buckets of this product to remove 50 years of paint and primer. I liberally applied it, took sheets of painters plastic and stuck directly onto the Ready Strip paste. About 1 1/2 days later, I pulled the plastic off and the old paint literally fell off - I was amazed. I went back and bought 2 more buckets. Nothing happened. I had lost the receipts so I wrote to Back to Nature complaining about lack of quality control. Back to Nature's response was that this is a biodegradeable product and after about a year it degrades. They said to shake the bucket at the store before purchase and if the past moves, it is defective. Question: Why is there not a warning on the bucket or why are they not telling the distributing stores this info? There was no offer to reimburse for the product. I am now tryng Peel Away; bought it today and hope to see what happens tomorrow.
Customer Review: Totally worthless Summary: 1 StarsThis is by far the worst home improvement product I have ever purchased. It did not work one bit. Fact is, we put it up and then had to use water to take it down 24 hours later. What a waste of money. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
Customer Review: Ready Strip Remover Review Summary: 4 StarsFor an earth friendy product this works well. It is not as easy as the infomercials show that it is, but it does remove the old finish. Does not always change color, but it can be used on a vertical surface, does not need water to remove it, and will not smell up the work area. For projects that need to be done inside this is a great product.
Customer Review: Good Deal Summary: 5 StarsI am using the product on some old wooden doors, stripper works as advertised. Like many people I was skeptical about buying an "As Seen on TV" product, but this one does not disappoint.
BUT I found it much easier to work with if I took the doors off the hinges and laid them flat. I tried using Ready-Strip while the doors were still on the hinges, and had a tough team not dripping any of the stripper on the floor.
FYI at the time of this post other sites are offering free shipping and slightly cheaper prices for the gallon of Ready-Strip.
