Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bahco 625XXX Premium Ergonomic Carbide ScraperCustomer Review: Comfortable, sharp, long lasting Summary: 5 Stars
I own a 100 year old 3 story home in Newport. I have learned if you want a paint job that will last, you have to go own to bare wood. I will no longer waste time painting over multi layers of old paint. Plus when all the paint is removed from moldings, the new paint lines are so crisp and beautiful. Trust me, it is worth the extra time to get rid of the old paint. You will thank yourself later.
After wasting $$ on inferior scrapers, I have found THE best. The sharp carbide blades SLICE the paint off (sometimes so smooth you barely have to sand the wood afterwards). Ergonomically designed, the handles fit great in your hand and does not cramp your grip.
I suggest to buy 2 of the smaller size so you can keep the round blade in one all the time (perfect profile for scraping cove or scotia molding) and the triangular blade in the other. Also the carbide blades seem to last forever!
Also get the larger scraper with the ball grip on the front of the scraper for larger surfaces
Thanks Bahco!
Customer Review: best on the market. Summary: 5 Stars
Absolutely the best scraper out there. Easy to use and the absolutely flat blade makes scraping old finish off of delicate furniture easy and almost worry free from gouges. I worried when they changed the design of the handle since my last purchase, but the changes made it even better. And anyone worried about the cost of the product or replacement blades, don't. I refinish furniture for a living and my blades last just about a year, using both sides of course, and i still have a handle I have been using for the last eight years.
Customer Review: pretty good Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this to use with a heat gun on the baseboards of my 100yr old house. This scraper really gets into small spaces and has the ability to feather paint where there are chips in the paint. The blade is strong and sharp. Another time, I would order the optional rounded blades for use on curved surfaces.
There are 2 problems with this scraper
1) Blades are small, so that you can work on small areas -this also means slowish progress
2) Not ergonomic, as it claims (which was the main selling point for me)
Customer Review: Well balanced Scraper Summary: 5 Stars
This Bahco scraper is a nicely made and well balanced tool for smaller scraping jobs. The blade can be rotated to provide a new edge when you dull the first edge. The flat scraping edge is 1 inch and that makes this unsuitable for anything but small jobs. I use it primarily for scraping glue lines and for that it is perfect. At first I thought the "case" was a waste and would be thrown out but it actually comes in handy for protecting the sharp blade from errant cuts.
Customer Review: Awesome tool! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing tool. It works better than anything like it. The problem is replacement blades, where to get them and how much they cost. Amazon does not sell them (yet) and they can cost up to $9.00 each. The blade should last until I can find them for less.
A must tool for wood, fiberglass and any other molding work.
