I bought this product for an extra bedroom that only needs to have a few clothes kept off the floor and I'm satisfied with that. I didn't want a hamper with a large footprint -so 13X13, is great - the black mesh just about disappears in the room when empty.
I can't see a college student using this for a dorm (especially in a cold climate where clothes are bulky), unless they have time to wash more than once p/week. It's too small and the handles feel flimsy. It wouldn't last through the first few loads!
You have to be careful not to over load it because the handles feel as if they will tear off even if clothes are just loosely filled to the top with a few blouses, 1 pair of jeans, and a couple of nighties. To avoid tearing it, I carry it to the laundry room.
I like things neat and must have "just had it" to pay $7.50 for this item. It's an item you can pick-up at the drugstore for $2! So, wait for CVS or Walgreen's to put it on sale and save >70%! ;-)
