Tools and Hardware Reviews of Essick Air H12-400 3-Speed Evaporative Console Humidifier, Oak Burl

Customer Review: Don't buy this
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought my Essick H12 400 13 months ago (Jan 07). It would not turn on after assembly. They had to send me a new and 'improved' replacement 'float rod' which turns the fan off when water is too low. The replacement part did not work either---an obvious design error, the stick was too heavy for the small piece of styrofoam to float and turn the motor on. I had to reach under the fan and push the rod up after filling. After 13 months the motor started overheating and stopping. I could hold my hand 4" above the motor and feel the heat. Threw it out. My old Sears humidifier ran for over 10 years---this one barely one.

Customer Review: Excellent Home Humidifier
Summary: 5 Stars

We needed a full-house humidifier, and this does the job nicely. It is easy to fill, and very quiet on the lower settings. When you crank it up, it does get noisier, but when it's really dry it certainly works faster. We have it in the hall next to our bedroom, and it doesn't bother us at all. One thing that may get a bit confusing is that this model does not have a 5 gallon basin. Rather, it has a 2.5 gallon basin and a 2.5 gallon removable tank. It comes with a hose that fits snugly over a faucet - which I love because I can stand the tank on the floor, feed the hose into it, and fill it hands-free. Nice.

Customer Review: Doing just what we need it to do!
Summary: 4 Stars

This product doesn't look too bad, even when it's in the middle of everything like it is in our house. It is rather large and the instructions say it should be at least 4 inches from any wall, making the space required even larger. The quiet setting is very quiet, but doesn't seem to disburse enough moisture to leave the immediate area of the humidifier. The other settings are quite loud but effective. We generally fill the humidifier twice a day and leave it on the higher settings only when no one is home and it makes a noticeable difference in our ~1000 sq ft house. I would recommend it for the price!

Customer Review: Really pumps the water out
Summary: 5 Stars

This looks nicer than I thought it would. It's very efficient in getting moisture into the air. The high setting is loud so we turn it on high at night when we are all in bed. there are two tanks with one being portable so you can lift it out and fill it. The other one can be filled with the hose that comes with. You attach it to the faucet and fill the humidifier. It rolls quite easily from room to room. The finish on the outside is a rich looking finish and the top is black plastic. It actually looks quite nice for the price and it works very very well.

Customer Review: Thanks for the information, won't buy and Essick Air
Summary: 1 Stars

We have had our Sears whole house humidifier for more than 18 years. It is now on it's last legs. I have been
doing my research to replace the old unit. It still works great but is not putting out enough H2O. Sears does
not carry them in store any longer. I like to touch something I am going to buy, but I guess not this time.
Regardless I appreciate the review demonstrating Essick's lack of concern for warranty work. Thanks Amazon
for inlcuding this feature on your site. I will not even consider buying the Essick Air.
