My wife and her entire family are what I like to call "toilet lid/seat slammers". They don't mean to be slammers, it's just how they operate. What is a "slammer"? It's a person that flicks the seat or lid just enough to get it to come crashing down on the toilet. It's loud. Very loud. You can hear it across the house. Me? I'm a "placer", which means I gently place the seat or lid onto the toilet. As a "placer" I was tired of constantly be jarred when someone would use the bathroom and slam the seat/lid down. I took matters into my own hands and bought these seats for all three of my toilets. Now when my wife and her family flick the seat/lid I hear nothing. It is truly wonderful and I can't believe it didn't replace the seats sooner.Customer Review: I made a mistake in ordering the round version instead of the elongated version.

This is not really a review of this exact seat, since I made a mistake when I originally ordered it by not checking my existing commode to see whether it took a round or elongated seat.
When it arrived, I checked without opening the packaging and saw that mine took the elongated seat, so I sheepishly called and sent it back, then ordered the exact make of seat with all the features this one has, but elongated instead.
My review for the elongated Mayfair seat is up on here now, but I can simply say that it is excellent in all ways, durability, features (the nearly inaudible closing), ease of removal for cleaning, and ease of installation.
Oh, and it's also made in the U.S., another selling point to people for whom that matters.
Customer Review: Not Recommended - Hinges Corrode

Within 7 months of purchase, the hinges began to corrode on both seast I bought. It was very difficult to remove the seat because the hinge covers wouldn't slide to the unlock position, maybe because of the corrosion. The underside of the hinge had gray-white chalky stuff caking off all the time which I was constantly wiping off the porcelain toilet. The metal coating on the hinges also came right off. I wouldn't say I cleaned excessively or with strong detergents, in fact I clean with vinegar. I don't know if that would corrode the metal.
I am returing them to the store tomorrow to see if I can get a refund.

Really easy to install, I guess. I handed it to my 11 year old and was going to go help when I got a chance but he came out and said it was finished too quickly. He had never removed or installed a seat before. I like the no slam feature but you cannot override it. If you want to grab the seat and close it you will find yourself frustrated, it wants to close verrrry slowly and will not be rushed. I just have to get used to it. The quick remove feature is the best, though. To clean I snap the whole thing off, run it under the shower, and pop it back on. Now I know there is no gross build up under or in the hinges.Customer Review: This is awesome

This works great...easy to install and to remove and clean. It allows you to just tip the seat, or the lid and it will close itself...just walk away. No more needing to gently hold the lid or seat down to avoid the loud bang sound. This is great for all homes, but especially great for those that have to lift up the toilet seat often. It's worth saving the time wasted in arguing with each other about putting the seat down, or waking up others when you forgot to cradle the seat down. There is an enlongated version of this seat also available if you have an enlongated toilet.
