Customer Review: Weak Metal Wires

This product is barely functional. The metal wires that it is made of are thin enough that they bend significantly when you try to tear off a paper towel, which results in the need to use both hands to tear one off. This defeats the purpose of a paper towel holder, since I could just leave a roll sitting on the counter if I wanted to use two hands to rip off a towel. If you don't use two hands and you try to rip off a sheet, it will not tear on the perforation, but rip down the middle of the towel, leaving you with a frayed triangle. I was expecting much higher quality since I own the Better Houseware 2409 Magnetic Double Towel Bar, Stainless, which is an excellent product I would unconditionally recommend, made from strong metal and magnets that rarely slip.
I have not noticed a problem with the magnets on the paper towel holder, but that's probably because I'm using two hands and not tugging until the wires bend several inches. Oh, also, the crook at the end of the bar that holds the roll is not pronounced enough so when you pull on the towels they almost come off the holder.
Really, don't buy this. Maybe try the Oxo 1066736 Good Grips SimplyTear Brushed Stainless-Steel Standing Paper-Towel Holder. I've never tried it but Oxo makes excellent products.
