Tools and Hardware Reviews of Better Houseware 2406 Magnetic Paper Towel Holder, StainlessCustomer Review: Get's the job done Summary: 4 Stars
I was worried about this product because of the negative reviews it received about the magnet strength - it turns out I had nothing to worry about. It latches itself right onto my fridge without a problem. I added a picture to the product that shows it holding up one of my hardcover textbooks to show that it's capable (It wouldn't hold up the 1300 page one though.). I suspect reviewers problems are due to the magnetic surface on which they are trying to attach the towel holder.
The product itself is fairly sturdy, but looks pretty cheap (I wonder how OXO would make this.). Fortunately, the paper towel roll hides the cheaper parts of it. It's very easy to put a roll on, but a slight pain to take it off.
Overall, I'm happy with the product - it does what it says it will. I'm withholding the fifth star because of the lack of visual appeal.
Customer Review: Magnetic Paper Towel Holder Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this for space reasons. The magnets are very strong and don't slip on my non stainless steel refrig. My magnetic utensil holder works just as well. I bought these two items from the same seller, but I bought the magnetic towel holder from a different seller. When I opened the bag, the magnets fell out of their metal holders, which I blamed on poor packaging at first. When the replacement arrived, I put placed the magnetic towel bar on the refrig. Upon trying to reposition it, the magnets fell out of their cups. How could I have bought two magnetic holders that work fine but the third seems defective or inferior? Upon doing some research, I ascertained that these look alike holders are not all made from the same manufacturer. Some are poorer quality than others.
Customer Review: wimpy magnets = frustration Summary: 2 Stars
We were trying to free up a little space in our kitchen so we purchased purchased this product and hung it on our refrigerator. It succeeds in holding the paper towels, but the magnets are so wimpy that it slips when it is bumped and is practically worthless if you want to pull the paper towels off of the roll while the roll is still attached to the holder - that is just an invitation to have the whole contraption come off in your hands.
I know they claim that they are the strongest magnets available, but that is simply not true! We do not have a stainless steel fridge, so that is not the problem. We also have a magnetic dishtowel rod on the same refigerator and it never slips. This product is a big disappointment.
Customer Review: a good holder Summary: 4 Stars
ordered this holder after I asked my husband to drill the wall for another holder that requires nails n screws. And he pretty much screwed up the wall, he completed the work and I thanked him.. and the next thing I saw was the nail hanging off the wall.. he did that with much love!
So I had to find one which doesn't include any hardware... I'm happy about it, its sturdy and serves the purpose nicely. Why I gave it four stars... ummm.. maybe I don't like the big magnets so apparent n visible.. it would have looked better if it was designed a bit differently.. magnets hiding behind the paper towel or something.
Overall I like and recommend it.
Customer Review: Not Satisfied Summary: 1 Stars
This product claims to be the strongest available, yet it is very weak and cheap. The magnets slide don't my refrigerator and I even have other magnets under it to help hold it up, the roll of paper towel I am using is a skinny roll and still that does NOT help:( I was sooo exicted when I 1st saw this item because I thought it would be perfect for my condo and to save space, but it stinks! SO My suggestion is save your MONEY and deal with what you have. Good luck, I hope this review helped someone because no one warned me and I wish they had.
