I have been using this brand for a few years, but I must say I am not sure the effort is worth it. I do not like them in the compost bucket; they are simply too fragile. (If you want to compost in a bag, buy the heavy-duty contractor bags, fill them up, tie them up, and put them in the sun. You can use them over and over.) I DO use the green bio-bags when I empty the paper shredder, and then I can throw bag and all on the compost heap. Other customers are right, though, the things will fall apart, even if you leave them in the box in a kitchen drawer for too long. And whatever you do, don't use them as a liner in your paper shredder, at least not for long. I did that and then forgot about it for three months. On the bright side, the bags really DO break down; on the dark side, I had an oily mess to clean up, and it doesn't come off with any old cleaner. I had to soak it in orange oil to get it all off, and I had to scrape what was left of the bag off my shredder with a knife. I now use paper grocery bags to line my paper shredder. As for large (dry, mind you) trash chores, I prefer to use the huge gift bags that come with Toys'R'Us items if you choose their gift wrapping option. They make great recycle bags.
