We purchased 3 of these to help resolve a very difficult pigeon problem on our houseboat. They arrived promptly, and were easy to install. I liked the fact that they give you an extremely long cord on the AC transformer, since we are gone for long periods and the battery option would not work for us. With the long cord, we didn't have to add any extra wire to reach a convenient plug.
I cannot hear any audible sound coming from the units, and they don't seem to bother our dog. We have them set on the maximum setting, as I understand the directions (which to me were moderately confusing regarding the best setting).
I only gave this product 2 stars because I cannot tell if it's working yet. When we are on board our boat, our dog, the A/C units cycling on and off, and our coming and going tend to keep the pigeons pretty much at bay. The problem occurs when we are gone for long periods (many months), and the boat gets coated with gobs and gobs of pigeon droppings, as they like to roost in undisturbed spaces. I was a little concerned when we came home one day, and a pigeon was sitting comfortably about 4 feet from the unit, more or less in front of it. However, that could be just an isolated case.
When we next return (probably in May), we will have a good feeling as to whether they helped or not. At that time, I will update the review and disclose my findings. For the time being, I would not count on them to immediately resolve an infestation, particularly in a large area, but if it appears they had a significant impact on the pigeon problem while we were absent, I would definitely give them a much higher rating.
