I bought this unit about 14 months ago to stop the feral and neighbor cats from living on my patio. I couldn't tell if the noise of the YardGuard disturbed them because they seemed to be sleeping comfortably. It didn't seem to bother my dog either. I'm not sure what this unit did run off, but it wasn't cats or dogs. I guess when the unit just quit about 4 weeks ago, it was a good thing as I hate to throw out something that works. Now I'm just throwing out a broken piece of junk...I already threw my money away when I bought this unit!Customer Review: Bird-X Yard Gard

We bought this device specifically to discourage cats and dogs from using our front lawn for a toilet. It's difficult to say if the Yard Gard actually does work or not. We are still getting cat/dog droppings on our lawn now, but the instructions state that it may take a while for the existing visitors to break their habit of coming by, but should deter any new ones from feeling welcome. So, I'm disappointed that this device doesn't have the ability to just stop all the cats and dogs immediately. We've had an earlier generation of this unit and have been extremely pleased with it. After many years of service, ours has finally worn out. We've used it to keep cats out of our otherwise bird-friendly yard, and it's very effective. Depending on the size of your yard, you may need more than one since its coverage is limited. But our yard is small and we change its location occasionally because the cats figure out how to maneuver through the yard without triggering it if we leave it in the same place. My problem was neighbor's cat coming in my garage and sleeping on top of my SUV, which I couldn't stand footprints and hair all over my SUV. Well no more cat, if it does come in it leaves immediately because the high pitch noise its on 24/7.
The only problem is next to the garage wall and small door which leads into a small garden and they are going in their sometimes,PO - PO yuk. My husband figured we would purchase another for that section, hopefully it will work.
So far so good at least in garage area!!!!!

I waited with excitement on my bird x. I have a HUGE problem with birds around my home and car. I am one of the few people who'd rather NOT draw birds to my home. We'll the birds seem to have disapeared the first day i had it out. BUT the second day, I see little birds ACTUALLY GATHERING AROUND IT, like a family reunion!!!!! I changed the fequency as recommended with no results at all. This product seems to be a waist of my hard earned money. Therefore, minus shipping and handling of couse...i'll be requesting a refund.
