For many years I've owned dogs, all the while not realizing what a great job they were doing keeping the many neighborhood cats out of my backyard. My last dog died a couple of years ago, and it took a while, but soon the cats in the area began marking territory in my yard, on all of the patio furniture, the gas barbecue, even the door to the house. Since installing the Bird-X Yard Gard a couple of months ago, there hasn't been one new marking on anything back there. Needless to say, I'm thrilled. I just hope it proves to be a permanent solution. Just an aside, why do cat owners who allow their cats out feel no responsibility for what their cats do and the mess they make? If it were dogs doing the same thing, people would (and DO) scream bloody murder! And don't misunderstand, I don't hate cats! I've had many, all as indoor pets.Customer Review: Don't Waste Your Money

It doesn't work period.
I have tried it all different ways. Had it up by the shed... Had it against the shed... Tried all different 'recommended' settings... You can imagine all the different way I have tried. I even had it facing the hole the 'damn' mole had dug to get into my fenced-in garden, and watched it walk right by this 'product'. The Mole even waited around to 'smell' this machine. This is a complete fraud.
A total waste of my money, but I don't have the energy to return it!!
I bought this only because Amazon had it on their list, with people giving it a 3 and 4 stars. I should have listened to the 1 star people.
I will be more circumspect on What's on the Amazon list in the future.
Can I give a minus rating for this product?

Before I purchased this contraption, I contacted the company so I wouldn't waste my time and money. I read the reviews and decided to buy it. I ordered it in early April, received it promptly, and installed it immediately in my vegetable garden. My husband and I decided to not make bed covers and use this device instead. Big mistake. I knew there was a possibility it wouldn't work to prevent quail from entering the garden, but it didn't deter squirrels, either. Cats were all over my yard, too. I had it set to deter all animals shown on the list. I wrote the company and asked about a refund, and they said that there is a 30-day guarantee - BUT, sometimes it takes 3-4 weeks for the repeller to work! I purchased two Bird-s YG Yard Gard Ultrasonic Animal Repellers to help with keeping cats from using my back yard as their litter box. I have hummingbird feeders with many hummingbirds flying and feeding in my back yard. The cats had an open hunting season catching and sometimes eating them. We estimate that the cats killed about 10 hummingbirds per week. We tried chasing the cats, protective fencing and moving the feeders higher but the cats were smart enough to be able to get to the hummingbirds. I have the two Bird-X Animal Repellers on all the time for about one month and have not seen any cats in the backyard. There is also an increase in the number of hummingbirds which could mean that the cats are not able to kill them in my backyard.Customer Review: Bird-x Yard Guard Works Well

I bought this product and had been using it for 6 weeks.It worked very well until some one stole it out of my yard. They cut the wires and took the box only. If anyone knows of a way to prevent thieves from taking these, I would sure like to know. I really need another one, but can't afford to keep replacing them. I would definately recommend Yard Gard to anyone that has problems with unwanted animals in their yard.
Is there a Yard Guard to keep heartless thugs & thieves out too??? That must be at "guns.com".....LOL...
It is a great product & it worked well for me in the short time I had it.
