Customer Review: Good for hard floors

This sweeper works great on hard floors especially for picking up loose cat litter that sticks to cat's paws and gets tracked into the house.
I've found that it doesn't work worth a flip on thick carpet though. It would probably work on short-fibered carpet as well as it does hard floors I would think.
The junk handle is another thing altogether. Whoever designed this handle should be ashamed of themselves for cutting corners and submitting such garbage for design approval. I shouldn't have to break out the duct tape to hold something brand new together! And, NO, "reading the instructions" has nothing to do with the major flaws in the handle design. I followed the instructions and pounded the pieces together against the floor as instructed, getting a good tight fit, and it came loose after 3 uses.

I read the other reviews and am surprised at the medicore ratings. I live on a farm and we track in lots of debris: mainly wet grass, pet hair, gravel, etc. I use it about every day and find that it works fine on picking up this stuff. Sometimes I go over twice, but it works well-- easier than a broom.
I do agree that the handle coming apart during use is an annoying detraction. I duct-taped the pieces together to prevent this possibe hazard.
If you need the occasional clean up and don't want to lug out the vacuum cleaner, this floor sweeper is an easy and quiet way to maintain household order. I am curious as to whether the higher priced Stanley sweeper with bristle boars works even better.

I bought this item after frustration with my electric sweeper not being able to pick up in corners, etc. So, I thought I'd do away with fancy and get back-to-basics. This is not the sweeper for that. I have a tile floor in the kitchen so it's an uneven surface. This sweeper doesn't pick up anything on that floor. OK, I thought, I'll just use it on my hardwoods. Nope, doesn't pick up anything either. I have to go over and over and over the same piece of dirt to get it to pick up. It doesn't even pick up Cheerios! As a test I put uncooked rice on the floor in a pile. It hardly picked up anything. So, don't waste your money. My old-fashioned broom works much better with the same amount of effort.Customer Review: Doesn't pick up much

I was wanting one of these sweepers, to use for small messes instead of hauling out the vacuum. But...I'm still hauling out the vacuum as this sweeper just doesn't do the job. I've had this product since December 04 and now it's just taking up space in the corner of a closet. It seems like it should work well...but no matter how many times I sweep over stuff it just doesn't pick much up! It's also very awkward to empty, and the handle keeps coming apart. I can't recommend this item, even though the concept seems great. My grandma had a similar type of sweeper, more basic, and that thing would pick up anything.
I was hoping for the same with this, but, no such luck.

What a relief to be able to clean with such ease. This sweeper is hassle-free, so easy to assemble-just push together the four handle sections and screw handle to the cleaning unit and voila! You're good to go! Of course, you can't replace a good vacuuming from time to time, but in between times, this is an invaluable tool to help simplify household cleaning. It comes with an attachable brush comb which makes it even easier to clean the brushes! You just can't go wrong with this Bissell 2650! I sincerely recommend this product to all those whom appreciate a clean home! Denise Louise
