Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL 3106A Featherweight Lightweight VacuumCustomer Review: Very good for tile floors Summary: 5 Stars
This works great on tile floors. The suction has a lot of power and it glides easily, also very lightweight which makes it all faster. Very handy to also be able to quickly pull the bottom rolling part off and have an instant hand vac to fit into crevices and small spaces. The filter cup opens very easily, dumps quick, and the filter itself is easily brushed off. Every other week or so I take the filter off and rinse it with some soap and water and then let it air dry. Its very easy to do as the durable white filter rotates on and off easily. Sometimes I also add a few drops of my favorite essential oil into the dirt cup after I've emptied it and then when I vacuum my home has the wonderful aroma of the scented oil and it doesn't seem to hurt the plastic or the vacuum in any way! I use 100% pure organic essential oils in it though so I don't know if any other type of artificial or synthetic fragrance oils would work as well.
My last one of these stick vacs quit working after about 10 months of a lot of use, the motor stopped but for the low price that is no problem for me. But my local discount superstore stopped selling this brand and is selling an inferior brand that I already tried and returned. So glad that Amazon is selling these and with free shipping too!
These are really handy for a laundry room, small apartment, an RV, garage and anywhere you need speed vacuuming. Probably not the best for high pile carpet but excellent for low pile carpet, linoleum and tile and can also be used as your car vacuum!
Customer Review: Great little vacuum that's easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I love this vacuum because it's extremely light, small, easy to clean and powerful.
I bought it because I have two small kids who like to throw everything on the floor. It works on bare floors better than carpet, but it will pick up the big stuff off the carpet (for a quick cleanup). If you have a lot of carpet, this should NOT be your only vacuum.
It does okay on pet hair. I have a long haired cat that sheds constantly. I have to go over the hair a few times before it will come up. We have a medium-pile carpet though.
On hard floors, the vacuum slides across the floor with almost no effort on my part. Its suction is amazing (as long as the filter is clean). Plus, you never have to bend over to pick up the dirt.
It's very easy to clean. Just open it up and dump the dirt in the trash. I usually just bang the filter a few times to get the big stuff off of it. I also use a compressed gas duster to remove most of the small stuff from the filter.
The best part--it doesn't have an annoying battery that will die in a few months.
Some improvements that could be made--the power cord could be a bit longer. It also needs a place for the crevice tool to go. It doesn't attach directly to the vacuum. There are ways to attach it with stuff you have around the house. I used a wire (like the ones in those annoying toy boxes), that I loop around the cord handle and then loop it around the crevice tool.
Customer Review: Great for $20! Summary: 4 Stars
I HATE vacuuming. Hate it. My husband will vacuum, but not under furniture and not every week. Our puppy is shedding and the dust bunnies are reproducing, so I thought something lightweight would help me dread this task a litte less. Success! I don't mind vacuuming as much, which means I'll actually whip this out and use it once in a while.
- Must empty the filter after each room, which I don't mind bc it's shocking, yet gratifying, to see the amount of puppy fur and dust that has been picked up. (And I Furminate our puppy every morning.)
- The cord is only long enough for almost one room, some rooms require replugging, which I also don't mind, bc if it were cordless, it would probably lose suction and charge before I could get the house done and that would be more frustrating than replugging in each room.
But with the two items above known prior to purchase, from other reviews, I am extremely happy. This little vacuum has a lot of suction and picks up all of my hair, the dog's hair and the dust bunnies. I used our hepa canister vacuum throughout the house one day and then wet-swiffered the floors, this little guy arrived at lunch the following day and so I tried it out that night. It picked up a whole lot more dust than it should have, knowing the floors were clean. Not sure if it will stay this effective.
If the next version has a longer cord, I will buy it, too, so there's one for each floor.
Customer Review: Good for quick vacumning after a messy eater Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this one for over 9 years. I got it because I needed something for the kitchen after feeding my 2nd toddler, who's a messy eater. I was tired of sweeping and bending over with the dust pan. No need to bend over with this vacuum since it has a nice long handle. The handle removes easily to use as a hand held. It does a good job on small cereal and dried food. It performed better after I emptied the debris compartment and cleaned or replaced the filter. It works best on hard surfaces, like tile or wood flooring. It does a pretty good job on my cushioned chairs since there are no buttons or deep crevices. I just wish the filters lasted longer, but it is still a very reliable vacuum. I would highly recommend it for the job I described above. Nothing more or you may be disappointed. My heavy duty vacuum broke, and I did use this one in a pitch, which did fine on anything laying on the surface, but it was not designed for ground in dirt in heavy carpet, especially shag. Otherwise, it's a very good vacuum. 2010 update: One more thing, the vacuum's attachment no longer stays on, so I use painter's blue tape to hold it in place, which works great so it's still removable. I wish it would stay like before, but the vac still works, and I hate to replace it just yet. I'll wait until it really dies. I've gotten more use out of this than any other vacuum. I found that Wal-Mart carries the replacement air filter so I don't have to go on-line to buy them anymore.
Customer Review: Great "extra" vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
This vacuum is a pleasant surprise, considering it is light weight and so affordable. It is great for quick cleaning of crumbs, pet hair, and dust/dirt from hard floors. It is easy to assemble, plugs right into the wall, and begins picking up all of that annoying dirt off the kitchen floor. I use it every day to touch up my kitchen, foyer, and bathroom floors. It doesn't have any bags to change - the bottom of the vacuum acts as a dirt cup that you empty. There is also a filter that can be hand-rinsed if it gets too dirty. I recommend that you hold the vacuum over a trash can when you empty it, since some of the dirt seems to fall out as you open it. Please remember, this machine is not a full-size vacuum and will not clean like a regular upright or canister machine. If you have a large area or carpeted floors, you will need a regular vacuum in addition to this one. It might be satisfactory as an "only" vacuum in a small apartment or dorm room, as long as the floors aren't carpeted. It is basically a dustbuster-type hand vacuum on a longer stick, with accessories. If you're like me and you get a lot of crumbs, dirt, dust, leaves, fur, etc on your hard floors, and you hate to drag out your heavy vacuum cleaner for these little touch-ups, then you need a Bissell Featherweight. Lots of cleaning power, no annoying batteries to charge, easy to store, and so lightweight that you can just grab it, clean up, and be done!
