Customer Review: Bissell featherweight does the job

My Swiffer cordless power vac died predictably after a year and a half of service. I did like this unit, but felt I needed a vac that would last longer and had more suction power for my all laminate and tile floors. I also am a perpetual crafter and need to keep bits of thread, wire and beads off the floor and away from my toddler grandchildren who visit often.
I studied various models of stick vacs and finally decided on this model. We recently purchased this vac for nearly nothing with a Kohl's sale, a $10 off certificate and a 15% off card. It has excellent suction to pick upfor the wire, beads, and threads I drop on the floor. It also gets into pretty small areas well. I am able to empty the dirt cup pretty easily although it took a few tries to get the technique down. It does convert to a hand vac, but I still like my cordless Dustbuster for areas where I would use one.
This vac is very lightweight and comes with a crevice tool as well as the power head. I feel it is well priced and has good suction for the bare floors and even my one area rug. I do wish the cord were 5 feet longer, but still enjoy using the vac enough that I am glad that I bought it. It really gets the dirt and dust up.

I bought this vacuum a few weeks ago, after we put hardwood in the living room and hallway. After we then put an area rug in the living room and runners in the hall, I found I needed something easy to quickly clean. I read many reviews and decided to go ahead and buy it. I want to tell you I LOVE IT. I think it is everything it claims to be. I have two dogs and it picks up the hair and any other floor dust easily. I do agree that the cord is short, but I permanantly attached an extention cord and problem solved. I find it easy to empty, easy to use the other attachment (which I rarely use, as the main one fits so many places) and it makes cleaning hardwood and vinyl floors a breeze. I waited a few weeks to review it, because I wanted to give the vacuum a chance to fail me, but it has not. The price is well worth it, and if I were to have to replace it every year........for 20 bucks, I would do it. OH, it also cleans the area rugs (very low pile) too. I have not tried it on the bedroom rugs (higher pile) nor would I expect it to work on them. So, I gladly give this product a five star rating!!! I love how lightweight and easily handled that it is. This is a good product. I would purchase it again.
It does a great job on my hardwood and tile floors. Dirt is always getting stuck in the grooves in my hard wood floors and this vacuum sucked it right out. It is much more effective than a regular broom.
It also worked well on my sofa. I vacuum it often with my full size vacuum and this actually did a better job. I was shocked to see the dirt it got out on its first use. I think I just lose a lot of suction with the long hose and attachments of my full size vacuum.
It's great for picking up the litter my cat tracks around the house and the food bits my toddler throws on the floor.
The attachment options are great. I love how the bottom piece detaches to become a "Dustbuster". I can pop it off with my foot while I am vacuuming and then reattach it quickly. Great feature. Cleaning is quicker now. It's weird that the crevis tool does not stay onboard, but I am ok with that.
Great value for the price. Definitely much easier, more effective, and quicker than using a broom and dustpan.
I think you will be satisfied if you are using a regular broom now and need an effective upgrade.

I've owned and regularly used this Bissell for over two years. I'm very pleased. Considering the low $20 cost, I can say that I've rarely been as satisfied with a product. The suction of this quick vac is surprisingly strong for its size, and the unit is light and easily maneuverable. The canister is easy to empty, but like other vacuums with cloth-type filters, occasional brushing is required to loosen fibers that get stuck in the filter.
This is a corded unit, which is a bit of a hassle, but one I'm happy to accept. I also own a cordless unit, and hate that after about 5 minutes of use, the battery drains out, it starts to lose power, and goes dead after about 10 minutes of use. With this one, yes, you do have to drag the cord around, but what you get in return is 100% full power all of the time.
If you are looking for a full power vacuum cleaner for use on carpet, or a shop-vac that will pick up big items like dry dog food, you will be disappointed. HOWEVER, if you are looking for an effective, lightweight, inexpensive broom-vac for use on hard surfaces, this is a great choice. In short, this unit does not replace a Dyson, but it DOES replace a broom and dust pan.

Leave it to Bissell to come up with this great little workhorse. It's light, powerful, and versatile. Although it wasn't designed to take on a whole house, that's just what it did with flying colors when the big upright I had bought failed miserably. After throwing the worthless upright in the garbage, I grabbed the Bissel and turned it to the job. It got the carpeting and the bare floors to the Queen's taste, and never complained. Don't do this at home, kids, unless you are as desperate as I was with company coming in a few hours and no other options.
The filter cleans easily, and Bissell sells easy to install replacements, too. It is a true three-in-one, which makes it a fine little upright as well as a comfortable and versatile hand held. The motor is powerful and trustworthy. The cord is extra-long and easy to wind on the handle. It picks up cat littler from a tile bathroom floor like it was special designed for that purpose. It flies over vinyl kitchen floors sucking up all the tiny particles that fall. It gets into corners like a champ.
Bottom line, buy this little gem if you want an all-purpose model for every-day vacuuming.
