Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Cleanview Helix Upright Vacuum Cleaner, Bagless, 82H1Customer Review: Excellent Vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand how some vacuums can cost four or five hundred dollars (or more); this Bissell was under 100-dollars - delivered - and it does a great job!
I'm a divorced guy who hates to vacuum. Having to change the bag on my old vacuum was a bugger...I never could tell exactly when I should change the bag. Well - with this Bissell, I just dump the container each time I vacuum; done. :-)
I'm not a dirty guy...I live in a second floor apartment and I remove my shoes as soon as I walk in the door, so it's not like I'm dragging dirt in the place. That said, I was still shocked by the amount of stuff this vacuum lifted off of my floors the first time (and every time since)! It gives one a feeling of accomplishment to dump the basket.
One more thing - the loudness of my last vacuum was partially to blame for me never wanting to vacuum my apartment. This Bissell is quiet, easy to maneuver, and the whole bagless thing is really the kicker. Oh, and even if this thing does decide to die on me in a few years, I still figure that I saved several hundred dollars by not selecting one of those really expensive models - so I can buy another Bissell and still have money left over! :-)

Customer Review: Bissell lives up to the name Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this Bissell vacuum cleaner on the 28th and it's a relief to know that there are still vacuum cleaners out there that can do the job they're built to do. With that said, there is one gripe I'd like to acknowledge. This isn't a major gripe but it was annoying enough to warrant a one star reduction. The assembly of the vacuum handle with one long screw makes the handle of the vacuum cleaner seem a little bit flimsy. What's more is that the long screw attaches the handle to the body through a deep recess in the screw hole. I feel that this is neither needed nor preferable to a design in which two half length screws on either side of the handle couldn't have done a better and more stable job. This I think, is a small oversight and only detracts slightly to the overall quality of the vacuum cleaner. Aside from this, the Bissell works flawlessly is quite capable of picking up all the dirt and debris on my carpets. It's add-on peripherals add to its utility and help get the job done the way it's meant to be done. If you're looking for a decently priced vacuum cleaner with the accessories to match in both looks and utility, look no further because Bissell has both a trusted name and the know how to make a product that works.
Customer Review: Wow, works better than more expensive models. Summary: 4 Stars
After reading endless reviews for various vacuum cleaners in the $75 - $200 range, I went with this one because of all the reviews I read here. Everybody was right about how awesome it is at sucking stuff up. I had to laugh about the review from the person who said it filled up the canister too fast.... duhhhhh... so yes, it is doing it's job!!! I have a Dalmatian and she sheds like CRAZY with these very fine white hairs. It does a great job at getting them! It also does a much better job on my tile and hardwood floors which was a pleasant surprise after having a much more expensive vacuum cleaner that just blew the hair/dust all over the place. This one gets it in the canister! It is also a fairly quiet vacuum compared to my last one right out of the box.
The only downside I see to this vacuum as someone else already mentioned is the short hose. It causes the vacuum to fall over a lot. However, in all fairness, many of the upright vacuum cleaners have this same issue. Maybe this model will come out with a longer hose next time round. I'll be ordering one right away!
Lastly, be sure to order a couple extra belts so you have them on hand for when you need one. They are cheap.
Customer Review: Too many filters, not enough suction! Summary: 2 Stars
I did a TON of research before buying a new vacuum and setttled on this one with all the great reviews. I have to say that I have been very disappointed. Not long after I started using it, the suction stopped all together. I finally called Bissell and found that there were not one, not two, but FIVE places that things could get stopped up enough to slow or stop suction. Ours was in the wand, which I had no idea would stop the suction of the entire thing, but it did then and has multiple times since. And when I empty the canister, I have to empty THREE different (very messy) filters. No thanks!
Besides that major issue, it does a really bad job going from wood floors to rugs/carpets. I have to pick it up to get over the lip of the rug and it misses anything that is near the edge. It also can't seem to pick up anything but tiny particles of hair and dirt off the ground - for instance a crumb or piece of paper that is on the floor will just get pushed around and not sucked up.
I am extremely frustrated with this vacuum and would not recommend it. I previously had a Dirt Devil and next time I will most definitely go back to that as it seemed to be much more user friendly!
Customer Review: Wonderful Vacuum for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
Gosh some people are way too critical over a bottom of the line vacuum. For $60 it is a steal. A $500 Dyson may give you a more enjoyable vacuum experience if that's what you're into, but this vacuum works great when it comes to cleaning. Also the mini spin brush attachment works amazing on my microfiber couch to get off the cathair.
I have 1 cat, I vacuum once a week, empty the canister after every use, and clean the filters every 2 or 3 uses. Still cleans as well as the day it was new and just as good as our last $250 hoover.
The only criticism I can give it:
A. It takes some effort to push on plush carpets, even at the correct height setting. Weak women will whine about it but hey, its just a good workout!
B. Beater brush doesn't stop spinning when you are using attachments. Kinda annoying, but hey you are paying $60 get over it and tilt the vacuum so it doesnt hurt your carpet.
Also for those people complaining that their brush stopped spinning, you probably vacuumed up a curtain or shirt and broke the rubber belt. Buy another one for $2 and replace it in 3 minutes instead of whining about Bissell's warranty, no vacuum company covers belts.
