Customer Review: Just another Vacuum

I was in the market for a new apartment and really needed something for the carpets. I was shopping for the cheapest thing I could find and functionality. My father had a different model of the same item. But when I say different model, really not different at all except for colors. So I was incredibly familiar with the product I was purchasing.
The vacuum arrived a lot faster than I thought it would. I was tempted to keep it in the box until move out day, but I decided to use it to make sure it worked. Suprisingly, the power on this vacuum was stronger than the one my father has (then again, his IS a little old).
As I read, and know from experience, the hose on this vacuum is disappointing. This part of the vacuum can at times be very aggrevating. When leaning too far, the hose acts more like a rubber band and makes the vacuum fall over.
I like using the extras that come with the item, however, I have never had an opportunity nor a need for the Turbo Brush.
So, for me, this is just another vacuum that does the job.

The vacuum cleaner broke within the first 5 minutes of cleaning. It started to smoke and smell like burned rubber. Turned out it broke the belt. I called bissell right away and they were very nice and sent me 2 replacement belts free of charge overnight. The other issue is that once I vacuum the machine gets extremely dusty and dirty on the outside. Perhaps because the connections do not fit too well. The hose is very short and once I started using it it popped out and threw dust all over the vacuum. Up to now it has been used twice but look like 10 year old vacuum. It is very noisy too. Despite all this said I am keeping it, because it shows that it picks up the dirt of the carpet. Perhaps a lot of these issues are due to the fact that I vacuumed a brand new carpet and something like a white dust was coming out of it. I had to stop the vacuum and throw away the dust every few minutes. It was amazing how much it picked up. we will see how it handles in the future but as I mentioned above Bissell customer service is great and the vacuum has a warranty so I am not worried.Customer Review: Not pleased at all, defective design + potential to ruin carpets

I could not decide whether to buy the vacuum or not, the reviews were mixed. Well I purchase this vacuum and it really is just a POOR design.
1. The waste bucket is just what it is, but high tendency to jam up from the hose... especially if you have someone with medium length hair. So be prepared to pull out hair and direct (yuck) The filter on the bottom of the waste bucket, is all chalky and gross all the time, leaking out! Who designed that!
2. The beater brush does not turn off when the vacuum is locked in the vertical position (to use the hose). BIG ISSUE!! The beater brush will still beat, and beat it will on your carpet... all in one spot. I was prepared for this, since another reviewer mentioned it... but what a pain to have to tilt the vacuum (so the beaters are hitting the floor) and use the hose. Who designed THIS~!!!
3. Suction is ok, size of area ok, and maneuverability is easy. Its light enough to haul upstairs and downstairs. Impossible to use on the the steps.

I bought Bissell 82H1 Cleanview helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner through Amazon.
When vacuuming carpets, I was surprised to found very poudery dusts had been sucked up, which I couldn't at all with my old vacuum cleaner.
I was satisfied with its vacuum capacity. But when I plugged out the plastic pipe from the body to put a small brush and started cleaning up our carpeted stairs, the brush on the body was still running and vacuumed air with dusts were coming out from the hole of the cleaner body which the plastic pipe was plugged in. My left arm and shoulder got dirty with the dusts. In addition, when I tried to clean up the vacuum clear's plastic dust cup and some filters inside, the poudery dusts were blow off to the air and it became messy with dusts. Very hard to clean up the dust bag(cup) and filters without being mess up with dusts. This product is cheap and I am not sure whether those problems are found only in cheap models of Bissell products. But I was quite disappointed at my first Bissel product. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I wanted a second cleaner so that I wouldn't have to lug a machine between floors. This fits the bill as an upright and performs well. The vacuum hose is so short that it's a joke. I tried to use the attachments once and its a waste of time. In addition, dirt was exhausted from the storage port for the hose. Unbelieveable! The handle is nothing but a cheap piece of molded plastic. The electical cord is attached to the middle of the machine, as is the on/off switch. This results in a lot of stooping to turn the cleaner on or off and you must hold the cord, else you will step on it.
The vacuum has 3 filters, two of which can be cleaned with soap and water. After a month the HEPA filter shows no accumulation and will not need replacement for a long time. The filtering system is efficient - there is no evidence that any dirt is returned to the room.
Since everything that is sucked up is visible frequent emptying and filter cleaned is encouraged. A good thing. Bottom line --- works well as an upright. A decent value for the money.
