Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Flip-!t Bare Floor Cleaner, 5200Customer Review: Not bad but not what I expected Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this vacuum about 3 years ago thinking it would help me with my wood floors and my tile. While the other reviews are correct in sayin the dry vacuum does tend to blow away light debris such as hair and dust I find that after a few passes it does pick it up.
The wet vacums side does an excellent job of scrubbing and mopping both tile, hardwood, and linoleum. My complaint is when I put it in the upright and postition it dumps some of the dirty water on my already clean floor, not much but enough to piss me off slightly.
The other thing im not a fan of is the clean up. If you do not properly wash out all of the peices it will stink horribly the next time you use it. Especially the filter.
I do like however that the cleaning solution is separate and if you dont use all of it you can keep it in the vacuum for the next time.
Overall I am happy with my purchase, I think I got it on sale at Target about 3 years ago for $75. It is good for the monthly/bi-monthly deep cleanings. I will honestly say that I use my Swiffer vaccuum and wet mop more than I do this, but it is mainly because of the clean up issue.
Overall I do recommend this like I said for the monthly/bi-monthly deep clean not for weekly use.
Customer Review: Too much work Summary: 1 Stars
I got the Flip-It, since it was cheeper than the Hoover Floor-Mate. That was a mistake. It requires just as much effort to get the floor passably clean as if you were scrubbing by hand. Using the brush, the water only dribbles out into streaks, making it hard to clean between the streaks without many passes. Using the pad, the water gets distributed better, but it leaves dirty water behind that the squeegee can't get.
Because the unit is light weight (which you would expect to be easy on your back), and doesn't have moving brushes, it takes a lot more effort to clean because you have to push the unit down and manually scrub the floor. Might as well use a scrub brush on a stick for that.
Also, vacuuming only picks up the finest particles. The suction is so wimpy, it doesn't pick up slightly heavier items. The discharge for the air is also towards the front of the machine, aimed at the floor. Not exactly helpful for picking up dust bunnies.
I returned it and got a Hoover Floor Mate. So far I've only vacuumed with the Hoover, but it has real suction and works 10x better for vacuuming. I wish I hadn't bought the Bissell, because then I had to go to Best Buy on the day after Christmas to return it.
Customer Review: Worth the price just for the "wet" flip side Summary: 4 Stars
I have Khars swedish wood floors with the urethane coating throughout my home, as well as a bit of tile and linoleum. I've got a thirteen year old boy and a bunch of cats. I tried the somewhat comparable Hoover product some time ago and promptly returned it. It streaked my wood floors so bad that I was better off leaving them dirty. Then I tried Swiffer - what a joke that was...It didn't even work on my linoleum, much less my wood floors. I agree with everyone that the dry vacuum side of this unit is pretty worthless, but the wet vac and dry side makes up for it. Using the Bissell Hard Wood floor cleaner that came with the unit, I had streak-free, clean shiny wood floors. I like the soft pad (and it comes with two of them!) that you can attach instead of the brush. Prior to finding this product, I could only use Khars wood floor cleaner, which I would have to spray out of a bottle (and is expensive), then use a flat dry mop, which would become filthy. The mop pads would need to be replaced after doing only about 24 square feet. It's too bad the dry vac side isn't up to par, but even if it was, I'm sure I would need to use my large Riccar vacuum to get up all the stuff that ends up on my floors.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
I have to agree with the reviews that tell you to stay away from this product. I also bought this cleaner because I have several dogs and tile floors. I thought it would be so much easier and cleaner than mopping. My first use I was not impressed at the suction, but thought for the price it was fair. After using the vacuum a few more times the unit lost most of its power. At first it was the dry pick up that wouldn't even pick up a few pieces of dog hair. Don't even try to pick up anything heavier than that, it was useless. Then with time the wet pick up failed to work. What I ended up with was dirty water being pushed around my floor. If the unit did manage to pick up any water it would quickly flood back out as soon as the power was shut off leaving you with a puddle of dirt and muck!! I will be returning this unit and buying the hoover floor mate as a replacement. I have owned a floor mate previously, used it daily for almost two years and finally managed to burn out the motor in it. I have to say, even at that, it was a WONDERFUL unit. Picked up dry items like a carpet vac and scrubbed my floors beautifully. This will teach me to try and save a few dollars. You get what you pay for!!
Customer Review: Wonderful! Don't know how I lived without it!! Summary: 5 Stars
I received the Flip It as a gift and have been using it for approximately 2 months-it is absolute heaven!! All the flooring in my house is hard wood-I fill the "clean" tank once and put on a clean pad (just ONE, I have NEVER needed to change the pad in the midst of cleaning) and it cleans (and dries!) the WHOLE house without even filling up the "dirty" tank. Also, the company provided hard wood floor cleaner leaves a nice shine and soft feel to my floors afterwards.
I will concur with a previous review about the "dirty puddle" issue, but this only happens to me if I leave the unit stationary for more than five minutes. It is ALSO quite easily corrected by just sliding the unit over the "puddle" once you notice it. The Flip It vaccums it right up and dries the spot.
I do use this product about once a week, so it's quite possible that my floors never get filthy enough for the Flip It to just be spreading dirt around, I don't know. I DO know, that I have and would HIGHLY recommend the Flip It to any and everyone-it's a wonderful product and you can't beat the price! It has replaced my swiffer AND my windtunnel vacuum as the only thing I use to clean my floors.
