Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Compact Deep Cleaner, 1400-7Customer Review: Flimsy hose. Get the 1425 for $20 (list) more. Summary: 2 Stars
Bissell has so many similar models, it's hard to keep them separate.
The "Little Green" series has three versions. This is the cheapest (1400) and I would STRONGLY suggest to stay away from this and go with the "Pro Heat" (1425 and 1426-6) version for the much stronger hose that is included. The hose that this version uses, is a cheap, thin walled opague version that is very easily crushed. Also, it isn't clear to see the flow of dirty water which is VERY essential to confirm just how much the tool is actually picking up. I easily see that hose failing early, long before anything else does.
The 1425 (Pro Heat) version has the reinforced c;ear tube that is a huge improvement over that cheap thin wall tube the 1400 has. Thought that 'power brush' is almost useless since the vacummn doesn't have enought suction to drive the brush and extract liquid through the wider opening of the tool itself, I can't see bothering trying to use that tool. Thought the small three inch tool is kinda small, suction does benefit because of the narrow width of the tool.
There is also a "Auto Care" version (1425-6) that substitutes that Power Brush with a crevice tool for the same price.
Though the 1425 series has the heater option, I would also receomend NOT using it for three reasons;
1. It's not necessary, usinhg hot 'tap' water is more than enough,
2. It draws 3x the current,
3. Apparently, it is the cause of the numerous 'cloged' units that that been described in far too many reviews.

Customer Review: Great for quick Stain Removal Summary: 5 Stars
This product has been very handy for spot removal and even great for cleaning furniture. The first time I bought it I took it out and cleaned a Las-Z-Boy that had been sitting for 4 years in dust and red dirt. I didn't think it would come out. I had to clean it twice, but it came absolutely clean!! It took one tank to clean it, but it was well worth it. It was easier to use then the big bulky cleaners and you can move into small spots that large handles can't fit. I have also found that this is great for "emergency" spills. I have two little ones that spill things all the time. Today for instance, my daughter knocked over my Big Red can (For those of you not in the south....this is REALLY Red) I didn't find it until several hours later. I grabbed my little green and plugged it in. I immediately sucked up all the soda with just two passes and then I saw the horrible red stain. However, once I started using the cleaner scrubbing it in (with the built-in brush) It came out clean! No stains whatsoever! I was very impressed. Big Red is notorious for running carpet/furniture. One suggestion is to buy the orange solution. It has a great smell and is good for smelly stains and seems to clean better. Also, use warm/hot water when filling because it is better with getting deep-in dirt from sticky stains. I have had this baby for 2 years now and it cleans as well today as it did yesterday! P.S. I purposely leave cleaning solution in it when I put it away. It makes it convenient for those "emergencies" and when you don't have time for filling, etc.
Customer Review: Pros and Cons Summary: 4 Stars
I decided to take a few minutes to post my review--I had read all of the reviews here prior to making the decision to buy my Bissell Little Green. I must admit I have experienced both the negatives and positives posted on this site. Simply--I have a different carpet type at my cottage than in my home. At the cottage it was phenominal, removing stains easily over a year old. At home where I have a very light berber it was not so easy. I did some reading online about different fabric type berber carpets and I am guessing mine is not quality. This does make a difference in the ease of doing your own cleaning. Mine was installed prior to my purchase of the home. With determination I did improve or completely remove stains in the berber but that was only after several treatments with the Bissell and a light treatment of Resolve. I made a huge mess myself after one of my dogs got sick by laying the hose down along side of me after treating the stain and did not notice until it was too late that some of the dirty water in the hose leaked out onto the carpet. Make sure you snap it back into place on the back of the machine even if you are not finished. Also, learning from the posts here--simply place some towels to frame in your spot and if there is more solution spread outside the area you want to treat it will go onto the towels (paper toweling works also)and not more carpeting than you want to treat. I am glad for my purchase--but it is advantageous to read all the good tips posted here first.
Customer Review: So far so good... Summary: 4 Stars
Yes, the product is ready to go once you get it out of the packaging, little assembly that is required is not actually necessary for cleaning, it's just a couple of storage clips.
So far I have cleaned just the living room rug and it does look great, however here are my concerns:
1. The instructions are not very clear on operating the cleaning brush. It makes it sound like there is no need to press the solution release button while scrubbing with the brush. However, you do need to do that to get enough water/solution into the rug to clean it and suck it back up. I made the mistake of just spraying water/solution to pretreat, and using the brush "dry", and kept wondering why my "dirty" tank was empty and clean.
2. Unfortunately, the hot tap water you put into "clean" tank doesn't stay very hot, if one needs to clean the entire rug. I understand that this is more of a spot cleaner vs. a full carpet cleaner, but I was hoping to get two in one. After reading the reviews for Bissell's heated Little Green (a lot of bad ones), I don't think I would exchange this one for it.
3. The "dirty" tank is a little hard to clean, I don't think they really were thinking about the cleaning task when designing this tank, so many parts, and there are openings on the opposite end of the tank, so no way to fill and slosh.
Overall, it got the job done, so I am still giving it 4 stars, but I am waiting to see it perform in newly purchased used RV... We'll see.
Customer Review: too many issues for the price Summary: 1 Stars
As many other reviewers shared, this little machine has some big problems.
My model isn't the one that sprays the water all over and it did work satisfactorily at getting spills out of carpeting, however from the first it was impossible to get the flexible hose clean and there are parts of the dirty water reservoir that are also impossible to get to. So the hose and reservoir quickly build up dirt which is unsightly and irritating.
After about 2 years of occasional use the hose broke on my unit right where it attaches to the hand-held wand. What's surprising is that it took that long b/c the way the hose is designed to be pulled very tightly around the machine for storage creates alot of stress on it. They should have designed it so that you don't have to yank and stretch the hose to get it to fit back on the machine.
As others have said the customer service is not very helpful. They referred me to one of their "authorized service centers" which is many miles from me. When I made my long-distance call there the technician put me on hold for awhile and then told me that a replacement hose for my model is no longer available.
The concept of a compact cleaner for small carpet mishaps is a good one but this solution creates more problems than it solves. Bissell has done a poor job with this product and doesn't seem to care much. Hopefully another manufacturer will step in to fill the gap with a better offering.
