Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Compact Deep Cleaner, 1400-7Customer Review: Great product Summary: 4 Stars
I really like this deep cleaner. I had been looking for something to clean my cream-colored upholstered dining room chairs with for the longest time, and finally came across this. It was easy to use and assemble and it got my chairs to their original cream color again; however, it did not remove some stains that had just been set in for too long--I wasn't really surprised, but I had hoped that it might. My biggest complaint was the spray nozzle. Instead of spraying straight down onto the chair when I pulled the spray trigger, it sprayed about 2-3 feet directly to the left and right of the hose, thereby covering my walls and floors with cleaner. To remedy the matter, I had to take all of my chairs outside and clean them in the driveway (holding the nozzle at crazy angles to try to get the spray on my chairs and not on my dogs), which didn't bother me that much as they were able to dry in the sun. But it made things a little less convenient, especially if I just want to hit a spot or stain in the future from a mess that was just created. I called the manufacturer (Bissell) and complained and they are sending me a new spray nozzle, but I have a feeling that is just the way it works. In any case, they were pleasant and accomodating and honor the warranty. It did get the job done, which nothing else I tried was able to do, so overall I am happy. It just won't be as convenient as I had thought.
Customer Review: Good machine, slightly cheesy parts Summary: 3 Stars
My husband purchased this machine a little over a year ago and we've used it a TON. Having two cats and two dogs in a carpeted apartment means quite a few pet messes happen. So far, this machine has performed quite well. Not only does it do a great job on pet messes (including hairballs, which are notorious for staining) but it also cleans up plain old 'dirty' carpet well. This apartment has carpet that is a shade between eggshell and a light beige and every speck of dirt, especially in high traffic areas, shows up as icky black. The little green can suck that stuff up and leave the carpets beautifully clean. We're expecting our first child soon and I fully anticipate being able to use this on all the messes that little ones can make, because really it is that easy to just move around room to room and deals with whatever we've thrown at it so far.
What is slightly irritating, though, is that the nozzle that sucks up the solution broke after about 6 months. With a generous application of duct tape, the machine has retained its usability, but it's a pain to deal with. Eventually we'll remember to order a replacement part, but it's rather silly that we have to, considering it broke so early on.
Despite that, I would recommend this for anyone who needs routine spot cleaning. If you're wanting to do large areas, obviously you'll probably want a larger machine.
Customer Review: Great for families with small children and pets!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this at a big box store a few weeks back, just because we were in the mood to shop for spring cleaning stuff. We got it for an excellent price. We thought it would come in handy to clean the stairs and also to clean the area rug under our kitchen table (we have toddlers).
Little did we know that our male cat would start having significant trouble finding his litter box almost immediately after we bought it. (Yes, he's been to the vet.) So we find ourselves using this little machine at least 4 times a day while we help our cat recover from his cystitis and find his way back to the litter box. IT REALLY PERFORMS!!!
I've even used just plain hot water (on non-urine stains). The suction on this machine is incredible. I love that both the hose and the cord are super long. And the body of the machine is just the right size to sit perfectly perched on the standard stair. And, I have to say, it's downright fun to use!! (Noisy, I'll admit that much.)
We have now found ourselves inventing environmentally and kid-friendly cleaning solutions, since we are going thru so much of it. We fill a spray bottle diluted with cleanser and water and use that instead of the fresh water tank, sometimes. It works just as well.
Couldn't be happier - now, if only our dear Coconut would stop piddling on the carpet....
Customer Review: Great little machine Summary: 5 Stars
I'm thrilled with this product. It does exactly what I need it to do: clean my carpets and not take up space in my small apartment in between uses.
I got this machine a few months ago and use it not only to spot clean but to clean my entire apartment. Whole-house cleaning isn't particularly quick with this thing, because of the small head, and the fact that you have to do it on your hands and knees. But you also don't have to move all the furniture as you would have to do with an bulky upright machine. It's little head works in tight corners, around table legs, under bookcases, etc.
I do agree the machine goes through bottles of solution rather quickly. My resolution: use the cleaning solution for pretreating stains, then use just plain steam for general cleaning. I also found it easier to push the suction head AWAY from me when suctioning off the water, rather than pulling toward me. Requires less muscle strength, I found. Making a second pass over the area will also remove more water if you want the carpets to dry faster. The suction head has a clear channel so you can see how much water is being pulled out of your carpet and whether or not you need to go over it again.
Customer Review: Leaks dirty water out the bottom! Returned and the second one did it too! Summary: 1 Stars
I must say I loved my old white Little green (1400-4) but the trigger button went bad and they don't sell that replacement part. I could have bought a whole new hose for 40 bucks but thought it would be better to buy a whole new machine for 72.00 which I did. The first one came and I used it right away, set it by the closet and went to put it away the next day to find that it had leaked dirty water out the bottom. I sent it back and received a replacement. (Amazon has a wonderful return program by the way.)To my dismay the replacement did the same thing! Leaked dirty water out the bottom. I contacted Bissell and they told me to take it to a authorized service dealer. The owner told me if I were you I would send it back because there must be a problem with the product and wouldn't even look at it. So I sent the second one back. Now I plan on spending the 40 bucks to buy a whole new hose attachment for my old one. Shame on you Bissell for not making available new parts to fix our old ones as they are the same parts as your new machines! I have searched the internet and I found many others complaining of this same problem. Funny, Bissell claims not to have ever heard about this problem when I told them.
