We had this sweeper for 3 years, and we used it pretty much daily. If you understand what you're getting - basically an automatic broom/dustpan combo, you won't be disappointed. It won't thoroughly pick up everything, no sweeper can though.
Sweepers don't pick us as much as brooms do, but they do work quicker, with less effort, and automatically collect the debris in a small canister so no dustpan is needed. It won't get the edges against the walls, and it won't get really light things like feathers, or small flat scrapes of paper, or some hair. I don't think any sweeper will do a good job on those things. If you understand that it will only pick up chunky little debris that you want to get after spills or in between real cleanings, you'll be happy with it.
The Bissell is pretty sturdy and does a decent job of picking up what sweeper pick up: small items like cheerios. It works OK on rugs too, but this drains the battery faster. Ours finally stopped working, maybe because of the battery, after 3 years. I should mentioned that we used it such much and it got so full of dirt and hair that I had to take it apart twice during that time and clean it out. It was not easy or quick, it was very difficult to put back together, so I don't try it unless you are good at mechanical stuff.
Cons: As others have commented, the little side bristles are worthless and won't work. The canister is a little hard to empty and clean and will get nasty looking, but you can clean it out with an old toothbrush. Hair will build up on the brush and keep it from working well, you'll have to remove it (true with all sweepers). The handle doesn't swivel like the newer model sweepers and it only picks up while moving forwards.
I have also used the swivel sweeper some, and while it is much more flexible, it doesn't hold much, or get the larger items, and I found it hard to empty without making a mess, but it is OK. We currently have the Shark Sweeper with the swivel handle, the less powerful of two Shark models. I like the handle and canister much better, but this model is not as powerful as it needs to be. My wife prefers the Bissell, I would try the more powerful Shark model.
