Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, 94003

Customer Review: Great machine
Summary: 5 Stars

I will admit, I've only used this machine one time so far, but I am VERY impressed with it's performance. My carpets have never looked better.

I owned an older model Hoover steam cleaner for many years and recently thought I'd upgrade to the Hoover MaxExtract 77. After using that brand new machine in the second room of the house, it stopped working. Stopped bringing the water back up. So back to the store with it I went. I brought home this Bissell Pet machine, and WOW.

It was easy to use, and easy to push.

The tank system is much better thought out than the Hoover, easy to carry.

The solution tank is completely separate from the water tanks, so you will never waste the pricey cleaning solution. What you don't use, you can keep stored in the tank.

I love how easily it can switch back and forth from floor cleaning to using the tools.

The water that comes out is actually hot, even when using the attachments.

It has a nice handle to grip when carrying the machine up/down stairs.

Like several other reviews stated, it does leave clumps of hair on the floor. But I'm not sure how that could possibly be a bad mark against the machine. It is obviously doing deeper cleaning than my dry vacuum is and for that, it's worth bending over and picking up the clumps.

So far, VERY happy with this machine.

Customer Review: Terribly designed and very difficult to maintain
Summary: 1 Stars

There are only 3 good things about this horrid machine:
1. It generates adequate suction not to leave carpets very wet after use
2. The heating element is optional
3. The detergent reservoir can be removed so you don't have to spray your carpet with foul-smelling toxins

The bad things about this "deep" cleaner are numerous:
1. It takes repeated applications to actually get a carpet clean
2. Suctioning up the dirty water from the carpet is a long, long task.
3. The belts that move the brushes fall off after practically every use
4. The belts are accessed by unscrewing several pieces of housing so one must be very comfortable taking apart and putting the housing back together
5. While the water tank lifts off easily, the rest of the pieces must be unscrewed after every use to clean the machine (and it does get filthy)
6. The dirty water reservoir is UNDER the clean water bladder. This means that the reservoir and the bladder get covered in dirty water and one must push aside the bladder to fully empty the dirty water. Disgusting!
7. The cleaner is quite heavy and cannot be used on stairs because or its weight and lack of balance.

I could go on, but those are the main points. I would recommend buying a smaller hand-held model for spot cleaning and renting a steam cleaner for larger areas/wall-to-wall carpet.

Customer Review: Bissell Does not hold up in the long run
Summary: 2 Stars

When I purchased this product 2 years ago, I thought "Wow" great deal. I found it easy to use, easy to clean, affordable and cleans well. The first day I cleaned three rooms put it away for 6 months....then cleaned one room and....another 6 months later began to shampoe carpet and 5 minutes it would not spray! I checked everything out...the belt, etc. My husband looked it over...nothing. I took the whole bottom apart and cleaned everything thoroughly. I was making sure nothing was wrong. Tried it again...nothing, just suction. Went to the Bissell website and the frequently asked question section about Spraying issues. I went over the section with my husband and could not problem solve. My husband was certain was electrical. I called Bissell, the nearest 5 Bissell Repair stores were 5 hours away and I would have to pay for repair. I talked to a customer Representative. She said there is nothing she can do. There is only a 1 year warranty on the product. So did I come out ahead? I cleaned 4 rooms for aprox $250.00. Since the Bissell didn't work this time I rented a commercial cleaner for $35.00 for 4 hours. I could have shampoed the 4 carpets for $140.00. That said, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy. The item would be a great product if it held up and if it had a better warranty, but as you can see I threw my money away. I will not buy another Bissell again if I can help it.

Customer Review: Not worth the money
Summary: 2 Stars

We bought the steam cleaner after getting a new puppy who hadn't quite gotten the hang of potty training. I was excited because I think highly of Bissell products and was super happy that it had a built in heater to heat the water an extra 25 degrees. My biggest complaint is that the cleaning solution tank is really really small. Put it this way, the clean solution tank on my Little Green Machine is many times larger. I have a small-average living room and just to steam clean the carpet on normal setting caused me to have to refill the solution tank 4 times. I think it took me longer to run back and forth filling the clean tank than it did to actually steam the carpet. The spots came out of the carpet quite well but the odor is still there a bit even though I used the Bissell Carpet Solution specifically for pets. I plan to go over the carpet again and see if perhaps that will do the trick. I would like to bring it back to the store just for the sole reason that it is a big big pain in the butt to have to refill the solution tank every few minutes. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so it is tedious to have to take the tank out and unscrew the cap but I think it would be annoying even without RA. The steam cleaner is also pretty heavy but I think that is to be expected with any steam cleaner.

Customer Review: Well Worth The Money
Summary: 5 Stars

First, let me say I owned a Hoover cleaner before this one. I'm saying that because it gets good reviews, but it leaked, the cheap plastic parts that hold the tank broke, but with effort, it did an "adequate" job.

The Bissell is a major step forward. With a separate tank for the cleaning solution, you can now adjust the amount of cleaner that flows into the water, or completely turn off the solution to rinse with clear water. The brushes are MUCH better than the Hoover's. Some commented that this model leaked - I didn't have that problem. The carpets have never looked better and I'm sure the heated water helped in this regard. They're not only clean, but plush once again. The attachments are also better with an included "Turbo Brush" for stairs and hard to reach areas with a motorized brush.

Some commented on all the clumps left behind. I have a dog and a cat so you can imagine the hair it pulled out - this after vacuuming thoroughly. I saw this as a plus, not a negative as it obviously got out the deep down hair the vacuum missed, but the cleaner picked up those clumps so not a worry.

All in all I have nothing to complain about. This machine is a little more money, but definitely worth it.
