Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Quicksteamer Powerbrush Lightweight Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 2080

Customer Review: No need for extra backage with expensive bulk
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I make purchases, I research...and research...and research until I indulge in the final decision. With the purchase of my first house, the carpet was in bad need of care. It was so neglected, we almost came to the decision to replace the whole thing. However, with toddlers in the picture, the best solution was to keep it for what it's worth, and replace it in the future when the kids are older.
I've seen so many purchases being made on the bulkier deep cleaners. The machines take too much space and lugging it up the stairs didn't seem worth the buy. So, after a long debate we chose this model because for $20 more this machine offered a rotating brush. Brought the machine home, assembled it in less than 10 minutes, and had a 10x9 room cleaned in less than 45 minutes. I've used bulkier machines in the past and by far this machine does the same work but is 85% lighter to use.

UPDATE 5/23/08

My daughter had an "accident" in our bedroom. I failed to clean it properly, leaving a horrible smell after time. FINALLY, I whipped out the Bissell, went over the spot many times, and voila! The stench is no longer apparent. This is a really great product.

Customer Review: Quick Usage for Light Maintenance vs. Other Options
Summary: 3 Stars

Very easy to use carpet cleaner for regular light maintenance. However, I was looking for a carpet cleaner to get out some traffic and light stain spots - some deep cleaning with a powerbrush - and this didn't do the trick.
The "powerbrush" on this is a misnomer, as the brush rolls back + forth by.....you! no motor on it. not enough bristles on it to call it a brush. also misleading is "steamer" and "deep cleaner".
The definite positives were that it's extremely easy and even fun to use, seems very well-designed, and it's terrific for light maintenance. 5 stars for all of that. Wish Bissell had advertised it as that so I wouldn't be stuck having to return it.

**updated**
Other, better options, which bring my rating from 3 down to 1 or 2:
I bought from amazon the McCulloch Steam Cleaner (mc1275, $100) and it ROCKS. zapped spots out with steam. obviously also great for hard floors and furniture, bathrooms, etc. carpets dried within 2 hours - this from a steamer without any suction.
Also sold here is the Hoover SteamVac JR which seems to have great suction.

Customer Review: Great lightweight machine
Summary: 5 Stars

I used the Bissell Quicksteamer last week for the first time. It was easy to assemble, a dream to use and I shampooed 16 jute back scatter rugs ranging in size from 2 x 4' to 6 x 8' without a problem. I was happy to realize there was no side spray so I could shampoo carpets in place on my wood floors. It sure beats driving 40 miles to rent a machine that's big and clumsy to use. The last time I borrowed a machine from a friend. It was a horrible experience. The darn thing was too heavy and didn't do a good job, plus I had to haul the carpets out to the patio because water sprayed out the sides. Now I have a great lightweight Bissell and I'm a happy camper.

Because I read many of the reviews I knew to go slow to when extracting the water I did have to refill the water container and empty the dirty water container fairly often, but it was so easy, I didn't mind.

The most inconvenient task was cleaning the machine after use, but with a little patience was able to accomplish a spic and span job.

I love this Bissill and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Customer Review: Little Helper
Summary: 4 Stars

Just used the Bissel Quicksteamer for the first time. Very pleased with its performance. No it is NOT a "steamer" which should be removed from it label. I just used very warm water. The water in the collector was brown so it did its job. The roller brush DOES spin and collected alot of dog hair even though I vacuumed beforehand. The brush was easy to clean. The dirty water collector was easy to dump and rinse out, I had no problem with the dog hair collecting in it. The suction spout easily removes and is narrow, but dirt rinsed right out. Downside the clean water container is small, but that is a trade off for the lightweight product I was looking for. The advise to go SLOWLY and let the little guy do its job is correct. I will still have it professionally done twice a year but this is a nice, light cleaner for the in between messes. Four dogs can't be perfect all the time. It cleaned up the mistakes, left it looking and smelling clean. Not sure on the drying time,it is slightly damp at 8:30pm. By morning it should be dry. I liked the smell of the cleaning product that came with it too:)

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first carpet cleaner I've owned in ten years, and I love it! True, if my entire house were carpeted, I would probably look for a more powerful machine, but I only have one large room that's carpeted. So The Bissell Quicksteamer Powerbrush is perfect: it gets the job done, it's relatively inexpensive, it's lightweight and it's maneuverable.

My only complaint would be cleaning the machine after use. Certain aspects of it are very difficult and time consuming. The tank, for example, requires lots of attention to get all dirt, hair, etc. out of it because of all of its nooks and crannies. And the intake thing, I've had to cut up telephone book covers to shmoosh around in there to get all the dirt and yuck out.

Otherwise, however? For my purposes, it's perfect, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who only has one or two carpeted rooms.

It's $10 cheaper at Lowes and even less than that at Wal-Mart, and neither of these options requires shipping costs (which are always iffy at Amazon). So definitely shop around!
