Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Remanufactured SpotBot Hands-Free Compact Deep Carpet Cleaner, 1200RCustomer Review: SpotZBot after 3 months and 2 dogs .... Summary: 4 Stars
Face it: you're buying the SpotBot for convenience and it is. It's great to place it over a small stain and walk away. It does a good job with the brushes, but it is a bit lame suctioning away the water/detergent. The manual hose is well designed and quick to put in service -- something I do a bit too frequently to suck up excess moisture left in the carpet. Even with that extra step, using it to clean small spills (there's a mysterious connection between my coffee mug and my dog's tail), it is far more convenient than using an upright to clean small spills and and accidents of the dog type. I rated it 4 stars because the suctioning aspect of the SpotBot is weak but the convenience, ease-of-use, and general feel of a well built machine is 5+ stars. It would be great if they had a model that heated the water mix, but until then, make sure to use hot water! Another great design feature is that you add the soap AFTER filling the reservoir with water. If you have a machine that does it the standard fashion -- soap then water -- you will appreciate the lack of suds overflowing the reservoir as fill it. Overall, a well built, solid machine that does what it is supposed to.
Customer Review: Clean circles! Summary: 4 Stars
I have raised 9 children and now am awaiting the ariival of my 9th grandchild. Also, I have a nervous tinkling Golden Retreiver and 2 older cats with sensitive stomachs. I can't stand spots on my 2 year old carpet and demand a clean carpet for my grandchildren to play on. I have had several cleaning machines. I like the convenience of this machine, but it does leave the carpet very wet and you need to place a towel over the cleaned circle and apply pressure to soak up what you can. After cleaning a spot it leave a definate circle, which appears to be cleaner than the rest of the carpet. Even after drying and trying to blend it in by working the carpet, there is still an obvious circle to show exactly where the spot was. So be sure the spot is worse than the circle:) All in all I would rather have it clean and I never clean with anything but water. It is very nice to target a spot and walk away and not to have to drag the large upright out. I would definately purchase the machine again if I had it to do over, but just beware the "CIRCLES".
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this remanufactured SpotBot because I was having new carpet installed, a very light color, and I have 4 grandkids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. The cats sometimes throw up hairballs, the basset hound sometimes a yellow bile stuff, and it is the WORST. That yellow is just impossible to get out of carpet. So....... of course the carpet hadn't been in a week and Puddin Pie puked yellow bile. So I got out the SpotBot and let it work. It got it out. One time made it worth the machine cost!!!! I was thrilled! So I went to work on some old spots on the older carpets in the house. Everything from grease on beige berber from my greasemonkey 21 year old son to dried, old chocolate milk in a corner of his bedroom. (Aren't they SLOBS?) Got it all out. Sometimes it took a few passes, but I'm really happy with it. I should note, I use the OXY cleaner and just some mild general cleaning stuff, sometimes the OXY and a little regular carpet cleaner. Always the OXY tho. The machine is easy to use, fill, and empty. A joy overall.
Customer Review: thank God for SpotBot Summary: 5 Stars
I had this many years ago brand new and it worked wonderfully, with 3 dogs and 4 cats in the house, it was used FREQUENTLY. never had a problem. I live with only two cats now and needed to buy a new one and got this refurbished one about a month ago, it was seemingly brand new and clean and works perfectly, I have had to use it many times already. It performs as it is supposed to, as I knew it had in the past. So I am very satisfied with this and with my one cat who is bulemic and likes to binge and purge on the carpet, I constantly use it. I also buy the big bottles of Resolve or other good yet much less expensive carpet cleaning solutions. I am not sure what the difference is with the newer blue "Pet" SpotBot, or if the red "Heat" SpotBot is worth the extra few dollars but I couldn't beat this price on this refurbished unit and I hope there are no problems like some other people are reporting, I myself have had good luck with Bissel products and would defintely recommend this. I am super happy to have my SpotBot back.
Customer Review: Avoid This Money Pit That Only Moves The Dirt Around Summary: 4 Stars
ONE STAR!!! I could not undo the 4 stars - great system Amazon! I was dumb enough to write a review as soon as I got this product and gushed at how thrilled I was. Now after owning this product several months I realize what a mistake that was. This product does not remove dirt from carpet. It brushes clean a 3 inch space leaving new dirt stains at its edges. Thus, "spot-botting" is a neverending cleaning chore that will test your sanity as you never get rid of the dirt but just move it around. The OxyGen cleaning solution it requires is about $7 per bottle and cleans 3-4 spots making it the perfect money pit for you and cash cow for Bissell. Now, the cleaning liquid has stopped dispensing so I will either have to take this piece of garbage for repair to pay even more money or put it where it really belongs, which is in the trash. Please save your money and rent a carpet cleaner. I am so kicking myself for buying this piece of junk.
