Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL SpotBot Pet Hands-Free Compact Deep Cleaner, Blue Illusion, 1200ACustomer Review: hunk-O-junk, leaks and doesnt have good suction Summary: 1 Stars
Our dog vomited on our carpet and it reeked. I was desperate to get a steam cleaner and had a Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon. I saw they only had this cleaner and figured I could return it if it sucked (ha-ha).
I have a Bissell vacuum which is a piece of crap too-so buying this I had some reservations.
Boy was I right! Bissell makes crap products and this proves it.
While the dog vomit smell is now gone, you have to thank the cleaning solution for that. When you let the Spot Bot do its thing on your carpet (hands free) you can see the brush does not get deep into the carpet. It also uses a lot of water (half of the container) per 6 inch section it automatically cleans. As it was cleaning I noticed underneath the clean water container, that the solution/water reservoir was leaking beneath the unit! My carpet was wet where I had not been treating it. That water had seeped down through the plastic to where the screws are. As the machine was on, you could see bubbles coming out of the bottom of the unit. Thats really safe! After the machine shut off after its auto clean, I noticed that the area it had cleaned was very damp. I went over it with the manual suction brush/vacuum and all this water came right up. I really couldnt believe how useless the auto clean was since I had to do it myself anyways.
The manual cleaning brush also has useless sucking action. It also has such a thin suction area that pet hair easily gets stuck in there, clogging it. Isn't this supposed to be for pets??
All the brushing and movement from the manual brush gathers up hair that did not come up with the Bissell vacuum cleaner we own.
On top of leakage from the bottom of the unit, it also leaked from the manual brush area where it attaches. I could feel dirty solution/water on my hands as I was using it.
The brush also sprays a huge area to spot clean,like 6 inches across, which makes it not a spot cleaner. It should spray 3 inches. It would give more control over how much area you want to treat. I gave it 1 star because it cleaned the vomit from the floor, but it smells like chemicals from the expensive solution. It is so cheaply made that if I keep it I know it will break very soon.
Anyway, I am taking this piece of crap back to the store for a refund. NEVER AGAIN will I purchase a Bissell. I said that last time but this time is final.
Customer Review: Love it! Love it! Love it! Summary: 4 Stars
I live in a 3-story townhome with my DH and 4 cats. I have a full size carpet steamer that works very well. But with 4 cats, there is a lot of "spot here, spot there" type of clean-ups needed in between a full carpet cleaning. Because of some health issues, I have difficulty hauling things up and down the stairs.
This has been the best solution to dealing with those stains and spots that I have ever found. Sure I can get the husband to haul out the huge cleaner for me, or take the Resolve and some towels and work on it for 10-20 minutes, or I can take out this and push a button and in a few minutes...job is done. I was concerned since often there is a dye in pet food that can be hard to removed from carpeting, but this thing handles it like a champ.
It is incredibly easy to fill and empty. The side you fill with solution is clearly marked with lines to show you how much water and cleaner to add. It is easy to dump out and rinse the collection side.
So easy to whip out the hose and use it.
I have used the surface stain and the set in stain settings and both have been very effective. The couple of times a stain didn't come out with the first cleaning I just ran it again and out it came.
I have found I can remove about 5 spots running it on surface stain before I have to refill. 4 if I run it on the set-in stains option or switch between the 2 while cleaning. The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is I did have an issue with the cleaner leaking out when I tried to leave some in for next time. Could be just the way it is or something that I did, not sure at this point. I just store it empty now.
I will add that if you buy cleaner for a full size machine, it may be very concentrated so it will use much less than the cleaner that comes with it and is made for it specifically. In that instance, don't use the fill lines as guides. You will have too much soap.
I have found that I can use this in a room while I take care of other things like some light dusting or straightening up. I love to multi-task!
Bottom line, if you have cats, I'll bet you've got some vomiting going on. Give this a shot. I think you will be pleased, but if not, you can return it.
Customer Review: Definitely Worth the Money Summary: 4 Stars
We have three cats and a big dog, all of whom have sensitive stomachs, and we have to clean our carpets often. For big jobs, I use the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900, which cleans the carpets well, but it's a pain to pull out for small cleaning jobs. My husband did some research and found this machine for spot cleaning between regular whole-house cleanings. I had just cleaned the carpets before ordering the SpotBot and needed to clean a few spots by the time it arrived, so I used it right away. Here is what I found with this machine:
PROS
* Arrives in one piece, pre-assembled, so you can start using it right out of the box
* Comes with some sample cleaning solution - (1) 8 oz. bottle of Bissell 2X Pet Stain and Odor Advanced Formula, 32 Ounces, 74R7 and (1) 16 oz. bottle of Bissell 0801 Oxy GEN2 Multi Purpose Oxygen Boost -32oz (enough of each for at least two full tanks)
* Very lightweight, compact, and easy to move
* Cleans the spots very well on the surface and set-in stain automatic settings
* Very easy to switch between automatic and manual cleaning
* The hose and attachments are secured to the base of the machine
* Long cord
CONS
* Only does an okay job with the manual/hand-held setting and attachment
* The automatic settings leave the cleaned carpet very wet, so you'll need to use the hand-held/manual attachment to suck up the extra water.
TIPS
* Use warm water when filling the solution tank.
* I used a little less solution than called for because it was leaving the carpet slightly crunchy in one of our rooms. This fixed the problem.
* A full tank will clean four spots on the surface stain setting.
* To help keep the hose clean after using the hand-held/manual setting, suck up some clean water.
* To help keep the water tanks (solution and dirty) clean, rinse them out after using the machine.
Customer Review: Amazing little machine! Totally worth the price! Summary: 5 Stars
Hands down, this is probably one of the best small appliances I've ever purchased. We have a full-size steam cleaner but it's big and bulky and a pain to pull out for one little stain here or there. Plus it's hard on my back. But this little wonder called the Spot Bot is absolutely perfect for our needs.
It's light enough for me to pack around the house and it does an admirable job cleaning up. My only complaint about it is that when it's left to its own devices, it doesn't extract enough of the water out of the carpet, but it's no big deal to just whip out the hose and little wand attachment and basically squeegee the rest out. Dries in a flash that way and it gets out the circular scrub spot!
We just moved into a new home with nearly white carpet and with 4 stressed-out cats, we've had our share of "Butt Scootin' Boogie" spots and hairball messes and the like. Even a couple of pee spots. But the Spot Bot got right to work and the floors look perfect! I would heartily recommend putting the cleaner mix in a spray bottle and putting that directly on the spot and then just use clean water in the tank. That way you don't get any of the residue left over that can attract more dirt. Plus, you use a lot less of the cleaner too.
If you have pets and carpet, you NEED this tool! It's been a lifesaver in our home so far! We've only had it for 4 days and I've used it on probably 25 spots already. Great stuff! Quick and easy.

I'm absolutely SOLD on this device! This little baby has logged some serious hours in our house so far and it's still going strong. Just be sure to clean the brush every now and again and rinse the waste tank to get rid of the carpet fuzz that can accumulate. And it's DEFINITELY best to use your cleaner in a separate spray bottle. We've actually set up a system where we have a squeezable condiment bottle filled with an oxygenated bleach mix (like Oxy-Fresh or the like) for any staining and then a spray bottle with the diluted rug cleaning solution. This allows you to really concentrate the cleaner right on the spot without messing with the rest of the carpet. Then just plop the SpotBot right on there and let 'er rip! Works great for us!
Customer Review: Saved my Marriage and my Pet's life!!! Summary: 5 Stars
So if you are even looking at this product just buy it, seriously it's worth every penny.
I have had this machine for 9 months and let me tell you every time I have to clean up a mess on the carpet I thank my lucky stars I have this in my house. We got a little 6 weeks old black lab back in October and he was so young and had stomach issues. The whole reason my husband bought this is because our puppy was walking up the stairs and had diarrhea on our carpet and I about died...how do you clean something up like that without completely rubbing it into the carpet (I'm the worst about doing that). So ever since we purchased the SpotBot my life has been a lot easier.
I do have a story about my puppy escaping from his crate one day while we were at work and he went to the bathroom on our carpet about 12 times and my husband left it all for me to clean up when I got home (because I was the one who didn't get both latches shut) At that point if I was not the proud owner of the SpotBot Pet I would have come home with divorce papers the next day.
I have read people saying it leaks, the only leaking issues I have had is when you use the hand held tool( I only use the hand held) when you take the brush attachment off some water that is left in the hose does leak out but not during cleaning.
TIP: When emptying the dirty water container lift straight up and then dump it in the sink, I have dumped it on the carpet a few times because it looks like there is a flap closing it off.
I have only used the big part where you turn it on and walk away once. This is because I don't want circle marks on my carpet and when I need to clean a spot it's usually small and quick.
I also wanted to list some of the ways the SpotBot can be used:
* To clean up pet stains
* Kids/dogs peeing the bed
* Boat carpet
* Couch stains
* Car Upholstery
* pretty much anything with a cloth covering
Everyone hates to have to clean up messes on carpets and other upholstery but every time I have to I am so glad I have this SpotBot and would have paid so much more money if I knew it was going to be so handy and helpful on a day to day basis. BUY IT!!!!!
