Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Swift Sweep Sweeper, 2201-2Customer Review: Good for carpets; useless for hardword floors Summary: 2 Stars
The manufacturer's description is misleading. It sounds like it's an all-around basic sweeper, but it does not work on hard-wood floors. Sure, for carpets, it's quite helpful, but that's not why I bought it. We have the pricey vacuum for our one and only oriental carpet (I have allergies). I wanted something to pick up all the debris my kids bring in on our hardwood floors, which cover the remainder of our house. The sweeper picks up nothing. Literally, you can run it over the same spot 5 times, but you'll be very lucky if it picks up anything. It's really meant for carpets -- the rollers inside use the friction with the carpet fibers to pick up debris. Without that friction, nothing happens.
Yes, the handle doesn't work on mine either, but that didn't concern me: a piece of packing tape easily solves that. My problem is that the product is not as versatile as the manufacturer leads you to believe.
Customer Review: love my sweeper!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
i am very happy with this product. i have a low pile carpets in the rooms my son plays in and i can never find a time to clean them since my son absolutely HATES the vacuum cleaner. this little number did exactly what i wanted and more. it picked up all the little pieces of crackers, snacks, cat hair, MY HAIR, and more! i didnt even know the carpets had all that dirt on them!! im very impressed!
FOR THOSE WITH HANDLE PROBLEMS: i did not have any problems with the handle coming apart. if you read the instructions it will tell you when you put the handle together, to STRIKE DOWN HARD on something. so i took it into the garage, put some old phone books down and did just that. i cannot pull the handle apart now and i even shook the thing with the base attached.
for an item with no suction, and for the price, it is the best!! hoping this item stays for a very long time!!
Customer Review: it sweeps! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great little sweeper for me. I don't expect it to be a miracle cleaner and work for everything, that's why I'm very happy with it. It does what it was designed to do - sweep up bits of stuff from low pile carpet, esp. commercial carpet. I have a habit of not wanting to clean anything until it's late at night, but I can't exactly roll out the vacuum at 2am. So this guy is great for sweeping up the area rugs in my apartment whenever I feel like doing it. I have two short-hair cats and I'm always really surprised at the amount of fur I pick up with this thing! It's really satisfying to see all of that in the compartments before it gets dumped into the trash. I also am responsible for vacuuming the commercial carpet in my building's hallways and this sweeper was really convenient to use in between vacuuming, especially in the fall when people kept tracking leaves inside.
Customer Review: Useless. I'd actually rate less than zero Summary: 1 Stars
Ads for this sweeper are very misleading. I've used it 3 times and each time it has only picked up some dog hair and nothing else. It will never pick up: Tiny pieces of thread, paper, leaves, dirt, etc and these were all very tiny pieces. You can roll the thing back and forth over these items 20 times and all it does is move them an inch or two, never pick up. The amount of time it takes to use the tiny comb they provide to clean the roller brush takes longer than getting out the vacuum to do the job over. The handle comes in several pieces and even when assembled as instructed the handle will not stay together. It constantly falls apart and has to be put back together. You can get around this at least by using duct tape. Unless you have a very low pile carpet or berber, and the ONLY thing you ever have to pick up is pet hair, this Bissell product is a total waste of money
Customer Review: If it weren't for the handle... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this at Lowes Home Improvement for 9.97 - it's their regular price. The handle pieces do come out but don't despair! I had some carpet tape (double-sided) lying around and wrapped only a small piece around each end before I put it back together. It works like a charm. For how long, I don't know, but for the price I paid and how well it works otherwise, it will be worth investing in another role of tape in about a hundred years or so.
I can't drag the vacuum out all the time, don't want to and besides the dogs go nuts. This works as well as the carpet sweeper I remember pushing around as a little girl so I gave it an extra star for nostalgia. Gets all crumbs (don't expect it to get ground in dog hair) and gets all lint & small things you'd normally drag out the Hoover for. And No electricty needed!! If you miss the sound however, you can always hum!
