Customer Review: Handle comes apart and dustbins spontaneously open

Other reviewers have noted that the handle tends to come apart. It does. Whether your solution of choice is tape, double sided tape, epoxy, or a welding torch you're going to do something to keep this thing from coming apart. Otherwise, with frequent use it will eventually, no matter how hard you jam the sections together.
There is also, on mine, a problem with the dust compartments opening on a schedule of their own choosing and sending an accumulated bundle of dust and debris into the room.
I haven't found anything better so I put up with it. I'm getting the torch and the brazing rods out tomorrow.

What's to say? This is a cheap carpet sweeper, and it works great! The main sweeper unit is well constructed of metal and it's very sturdy indeed. However, the handle is a 4-piece tubular thingee that is marginal at best. The handle is in 4 sections so it can be shipped in a smaller box. The sweeper works perfectly on my office carpet, and I stow it away in a small file cabinet. I recommend this sweeper for occasional use, but I would suggest fabricating a solid piece of tubing for a better handle if you intend to use this for more frequent sweeping. Otherwise, the 4-piece handle will keep falling apart in your hands.Customer Review: Great little sweeper

Got four of these, three for gifts. They work GREAT compared to other similar type sweepers. Amazing how much pet hair they get off carpets. The handle wouldn't stay together, till my son told me I hadn't read the directions. Something about jamming the handle onto the floor before attaching to the sweeper part, and that makes it all stay together. Now, it does. I would recommend this highly. Has a little problem picking up at edges of things, but bought this for two college sons and they love it. Picks up great on throw rugs when company is imminent. This size is a small and is great for storage. We think it's fun to use!Customer Review: Works as Advertised

The sweeper works great! Perfect for a dorm, small apartment, office, etc
Works great, picks up lots of dust and debris. I fell in love with this thing the second I got it. So easy to use and keeps the floor clean. It's incredibly easy to empty the dust pans and not make a complete mess, and comes with a comb for the cleaning brush. I USE THIS ALMOST DAILY!
The handle does have some issues but if you hit it on the ground when assembling it you shouldn't have the problem (the instructions tell you to do this). It also has problems getting around corners or up against the wall, but that is expected.

I wish people that had problems with the handle would not have given the item so many stars. I admit I neglected to read the reviews ahead of time because I was in a hurry, but also because it's a cheap, simple sweeper with 4 stars. How could I go wrong? I agree that the sweeper part works well, but the handle is junk. Sure, you could tape it, but even at the price you shouldn't settle for something so poorly designed. If only all the parts of the handle screwed in, or locked, it would be fantastic. But they don't. It fell apart on me 3 times in less than five minutes.
I'm returning it immediately.
