Tools and Hardware Reviews of Woolite 850B Rug Stick Carpet & Rug CleanerCustomer Review: works great for the money! Summary: 4 Stars
this product far exceeded my expectations. i have used a Bissell Spot Bot for about a year and I have these 'water rings' in the carpet. i purchased the Rug Stick (downloadable coupon on Rug Stick website) for a little more than $10. It got the rings in my carpet up and we have berber. i noticed some of the other reviews weren't positive with berber...just be sure to use the rug stick at all angels...north, east, south and west. This will allow the foam to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers. I allow the foam to sit on the carpet for about a minute or two prior to rubbing it in. Also...allow your carpet to fully dry prior to vacuuming. I'm so excited about this product esp. since we love our carpet to look perfect on Thanksgiving. This product saved me hundreds of dollars that I was prepared to spend with a carpet cleaning company. I would reccommend this to all of my friends. the metal pole is lightweight, I used elbow grease and it didn't bend at all....some reviewers called it flimsy? I clean up messes daily and i have a cat, dog, a 1yr old and a very messy husband. this product is awesome because i no longer have to bend over to clean spills and messes...it gives your back a much needed break. Yesterday my son spilled a coke on the carpet...no sign of it today. Blot first though!
Customer Review: Lets be realistic... Summary: 4 Stars
Lets be honest with each other... do miracles come with a $12 price tag? Absolutely not.
If anyone goes and buys this product expecting it to work like in the commercial then they need a reality check. No product ever works like marketing makes it seem.
I have a dog that gets sick a lot. He usually reserves it for directly in front of the door (which has linoleum, thank god) but accidents do happen on our light blue carpet. We don't always have proper carpet cleaning supplies on hand and we wound up with a few stains.
The area just beyond the front door where everyone has to take their shoes off was dirty and matted down. This perked up the fibers and removed most of the dirt, as well.
The pole needs to be put together but it seems to have reinforcements inside to keep it from bowing like it had in the past.
This product defeated my expectations with more work than the commercial (obviously). The stains are about 90% gone. It took 2 applications and I am sure the stains won't be noticeable with a third.
Pros:
-Nice Sent
-Price
-It works, if you have a sensible view of what this product will actually do.
Cons:
-Not as good as a Rug Doctor or Stanley Steamers
Customer Review: Well look at that it actually works Summary: 4 Stars
It's not a substitute for a professional shampoo or steam cleaning so don't expect those sort of results. And considering I only dropped $13 for it, including the extra can, I did not expect them either. But let me say that there is a considerable and noticeable difference in my carpet after use. The heavy traffic patterns are virtually gone and the multiple stains here and there are far less pronounced now, although not vanished. This is white medium pile carpet so given it's low budget retail limitations I am nonetheless impressed.
Pros: Delivers what it is advertised to do. Heavy traffic stains are practically gone. Spot stains are far less apparent too. Also smells much nicer in here now.
Cons: This is work. Any ad you may have seen for the stick doesn't include the repeated scrubbing required to get the best results. Dispensing the foam takes practice and is an awkward design. It's not quite as user friendly as it appears.
Overall not a perfect product and not perfect results. But for the money you'd pay renting a steamer it's worth a little elbow grease with a powerful cleaner to get just about the same result. If you are looking to freshen up your carpet, not restore it to like new, I would recommend getting this.
Customer Review: Wasting of money. Not what I expected. Summary: 1 Stars
I got myself pretty impressed when I saw the TV comercial about this product. My carpet (by the front door) looks exactly like the one on the TV. The lady used the rug stick, and WOW... the carpet became like new.
Of course, I wasn't expecting that, but I confess I was expecting at least seeing some difference. One of those RENTAL STEAMERS does the job much more efficiently.
Here comes my list of PROs and CONs:
PRO:
- It looks nice!
- It's a interesting way to dispense carpet produc directly into it.
CONS:
- Doesn't clean anything better than any other carpet product.
- The stick is made of weak metal, and has many parts, it bends when forced toweards the carpet, in fact I had to knee anyway to do a good job.
- The sample that comes with the product is not enough even for a bathroom rug.
- Did I mention it does not clean anything?
- The foam does not penetrate on the carpet, it stays on the top, the brush just spread them around. I had to use a hand brush to force the foam into the carpet.
** This item is hard to find on-line, but if you really want to test it (I do not recomend that) go to Safeway, they have it there.
Customer Review: Disappointing carpet cleaner Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this after seeing the TV commercial. Made it look real easy to clean a reasonable sized area. I wasn't expecting a miracle. But I was expecting something for my money.
First, it was a good thing that I bought an extra can of foam when I got the cleaner, cause I could never get any foam out of the tiny bottle they give you in the box. I did get some foam out of the extra bottle, but it was spotty, sometimes it was foaming pretty good, other times it would barely put anything out. I did shake it often, and it worked better after each shake. Unfortunately, I got about 80 sq ft out of the bottle that was supposed to clean "up to 170 sq ft". Not even close, and it wasn't putting out nearly the foam you see in the commercial or on the box.
It didn't get the real spots out of my carpet, I really foamed up one spill and although it faded it is still there. I just don't have confidence that it is really penetrating into the carpet, no matter how long you brush it.
Bottom line, if you have a large area to clean, try another method. If you have any real bad stains, try another method. If you don't like to stop and shake the can every 5 minutes, try another method.
