Customer Review: A pain in the arse- but works better than others or cheaper models.

I have had 4 units over 12 years and this one works better than any of the others.
Good Points: The sucking part of this really does better than base models. Gets much more water out of the carpet! Easy to fill, easy to empty. I like that you can turn off the cleaning solution and have just water at any time.
REVIEW:
So it was not spraying out the dual front nozzels- I took it apart and the heater unit has a metal back cover plate that 'warped' and the water was pouring out of it and running down the inside. Took the plate off ( 7 screws on heater, 8 to get to it- remove the top part where the trigger is first. )Hammered the plate flat, used automotive quality blue heat resistant gasket material and fixed that problem. I could have just bypassed the heater as I do not think it makes much of a difference- you start with hot water anyway and I doubt it gets much hotter than a few degrees passing through their heater- though it did get hot enough to warp the back cover plate so I fixed it wanting any extra BTU's I could get.
The select switch for the hand tool comes unhooked inside if turned too far. Easy enough to pop it back on (6 top screws the top of the base lifts off). Use a folded towel underneath so the base is not resting on the wheels to make putting it back together easier. In other words, Jack your Bissell.
The water lines that run up to the handle inside the frame get pinched right by the wheels. One gets weak as it has no extra support so every time you release the handle it is putting wear and tear on a 1/4 inch plastic tube that is rubbing between the handle and base . You can get to it when fixing that switch mentioned above. I purchased some heavier 1/4" tubing and it does not get crimped anymore.
Easy enough to completely take apart and monitor all the tubing and such. Nothing major has broken like a motor going out, just lots of little annoying things needing to be fixed. If a person was not inclined to spend an hour teching this thing every time it stopped working correctly- I bet they would not get much use from it.
If you love maintaining cheap and flawed designs than this is the one for you buddy!
