Customer Review: Powerful for a cordless hand vacuum!

We just bought this hand vacuum to clean up after an African Grey Parrot, and have been fairly happy with it. The Black & Decker CHV1400 that everyone else raves about doesn't appear to be available for purchase anymore.
After having a terribly under-powered, useless hand vacuum (Black & Decker CHV7250 7.2 Volt) and accidentally purchasing a highly-rated, powerful hand vacuum from Amazon, which I failed to notice was NOT cordless (Eureka 71B)...I decided to try to find the next vaccum in person, so that I could at least look at it, and it would be easy to return if I was dissatisfied.
I found this vacuum at Target. It is very powerful, it sucks up peanut shells, wet beans and chunks of wood easily. I also like the fact that you can empty it without having to deal with a dirty filter which has everything stuck to it. The filter on this one is attached to the vacuum, not inset inside the cup. And the filter has a plastic cover, which makes it easy to clean, and protects it from getting hair and lint globbed all over it.
The only problem I have with it is the narrow opening. On the exterior, you see an opening of about 1/2" x 2". But I noticed the suction would decrease after I sucked up a bunch of larger items, and when I turned off the vacuum, everything would fall back out. On inspecting it more closely, I noticed there is a passage from the outside opening into the cup, which is only about 1/2" x 1/2"....so it gets clogged easily if you are sucking up things like peanut shells, which are typically larger than 1/2" x 1/2"
I just keep in mind that larger scraps need to be picked up separately... or I allow the vacuum to suck them up when I'm done with all the smaller stuff, then make sure not to tip it forward until I'm over the trashcan. I do have yet to see how long before the battery stops holding a charge, but overall I am happy with it.
