Customer Review: Best I've had so far
Summary: 5 Stars

Well i've owned quite a few hand Vac's in my time. Thus far this is the best one I've owned.

Good points

- Quietest one I've ever owned. Doesn't bother my ears at all and I'm whiny about noise
- Strong suction so far, not surprising with the bigger batteries
- Very easy to dump the holder. One button and its dumped. Don't have to remove anything else to get it emptied. Previous ones always required removing the end and then pulling some other thing out and cleaning this and that.
- Battery pack appears replaceable, so when the battery eventually is garbage on this I'll actually be able to replace it.

Bad Points

- Its a little on the heavy side with the bigger battery pack.
- The on/off switch is a little tough to turn on. My little one really loves to use the hand vac's but this one she can't turn on by herself since the switch is so tough to move.

Customer Review: What a piece of junk!
Summary: 1 Stars

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this model! But to be truthful, I haven't even had the chance to use it yet. Over the last 2 days I have had to buy 2 of them from Target (which I shouldn't have had to do since only the battery needed replacing, but doing that costs as much as a new model). In the first one, the black housing was separated, and I had to click it back together. There was also a large crack on the brush tool as well as a large chip on the dust bowl. I returned that one, thinking it must have been a fluke. With the second one, the unit would not sit in the charger properly so that the charging light would come on -- I had to wiggle it back and forth to get the light to come on, but it wouldn't stay lit. This is TERRIBLE quality control! These units are, of course, made in China, and we are getting TERRIBLE products from China! I have wasted three days of my time and $47.00 on this.

Customer Review: Perfect Dustbuster!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best dustbuster I have used. It picked up all the dirt and gravel from the car, the carpeted stairs were clean in no time, dog hair was all picked up. All in the same charge with no notice of losing any power. Maybe previous posters didn't do the initial 24hr charge before using?

It's very easy to empty. The filter is not a big deal to clean. The cover comes off easily and goes back on easily.

The power button stays on so you don't have to hold it while using it.

Their is an edge piece that slides out to get into grooves like between car seats. It's attached so it won't get lost.

It's attractive, as dustbusters go. Blue with silver and a cloudy dirt compartment so you can see if it needs to be emptied but not too clear.

I'm very happy with it and would highly recommend it.

Customer Review: disappointing poor suction
Summary: 1 Stars

Got this when the discontinued previous model 15.6 volt dustbuster (which was great) got cracked plastic housing after years of use. Even tho this one supposedly has same power the suction is FAR weaker. The old one could suck up loose change, anything from between car seats, this one can't even pick up loose bits of paper right underneath it.

I thought it was defective, returned for another one-- same weak suction.

Also the pull-out nozzle has no locking mechanism so you can't reach in any crevices with it, it just pushes right back inside. It's too weak to vacuum anything but loose dust anyway.

Poor engineering-- looks like they never bothered to try it before putting into production .

Customer Review: Unreliable Batteries make this a waste of money
Summary: 1 Stars

I often wonder if Black & Decker hires professional reviewers to praise their vacuums on this website and other online retailers. I say this because the reviews tend to average 4 out of 5 stars (Amazon & Target), yet my experience with these Black & Decker models is the exact opposite. In my opinion, they are a waste of money. I've bought two different models (CHV1586 most recently) and these pieces of junk won't hold a charge for more than a minute after 3 months of consistent daily use. It's so frustrating, especially when the batteries are nearly impossible to find and can't be replaced for less than the price of a new vacuum. Avoid Black & Decker hand vacs!
